During the summer of 2008, Jimmy and Krista talked about getting married and picked out a ring. However, Jimmy told Krista that he wanted to wait awhile before getting engaged. In late June, Jimmy asked Krista if they could go hang out with some of his work friends on a Saturday. She agreed, and on July 5th Krista got ready to go to a nice bar in Dallas. Meanwhile, Jimmy was getting ready for the proposal.

As Krista was rushing out the door (she was running late), Jimmy told Krista that Maori had something to show her. Krista glanced at Maori and noticed she was wearing a pink collar. Jimmy had always said that Maori should have a pink collar, so Krista did not initially think anything of it. When Jimmy asked her to look closer, she noticed that “Marry Jimmy?” was embroidered into the pink collar, and that Jimmy was down on one knee asking her to marry him. Krista, after getting over the shock, accepted his proposal. Jimmy then revealed that they were not going to go out with his friends from work, but that they were going to dinner and staying the night at the W Hotel in Dallas.
