FAQs

You've got questions? We've got answers.

1) Why are you getting married in Mexico?

Because we really like it. Seriously. Here's the deal: the Riviera Maya is easy to get to, relatively cheap, and beautiful. We've had a couple of great vacations there and we love the idea of our families and friends getting to spend some time together and getting to know each other. We hope you'll join us!

2) Isn't it expensive to go to Mexico for the weekend?

You'd be surprised! We realize that getting "married away" may make it difficult for all of our friends and family to join us, but when you add up airfare, hotel, transfers, food and drink, the trip isn't much more than it would cost to spend a weekend in Chicago. And unlimited cocktails with umbrellas in them = way more fun!

(Also, our travel agent offers a free payment plan, so that helps.)

3) Do I have to speak Spanish?

No. The staff will be happy to humor you if you try, but they all speak english and you'll be fine. You can also use US dollars almost everywhere, so no need to exchange money, really.

4) What should I bring to Mexico?

Your swimming suits, sunscreen, reading material and yourselves! If you like to swim you may want goggles, as many of the pools there are salt water. It will be hot, so pack accordingly!

We plan to be very casual for most of the weekend. The a la carte restaurants generally require long pants and collared shirts for men, FYI, so that's something to keep in mind. The welcome reception is beach casual (sundresses, polo shirts and sandals), and the wedding itself is "beach formal" (in other words, cocktail or formalwear, with an eye on staying cool in the sun!)

5) Are children invited to the wedding?

Our wedding weekend will be kid friendly with the exception of the Sunday night wedding reception itself. The reception will be an evening party with grown-up food, drinks, and dancing lasting late into the night.

The Lindo hotel has an experienced staff of babysitters available on Sunday night and we'd also bet that a few parents would be willing to take turns watching the kids, too - once we know who is coming it will be easy enough to figure out. Let us know if this is a problem and we will find a solution!
