Matt and Lindsay met in high school, but didn't really talk much until grade 11. If you know Matt, you know why it took them a long time to start talking ;)
During the summer after grade 11, Matt would bike over to Lindsay's house at night and they would meet up with friends for late night hide and go seek.
Lindsay would always rig it so that she would end up on Matt's team (she's crafty like that!) A few weeks into summer, Lindsay left for a singing competition in Nashville. Where she spent all of her free time chatting with Matt.
When Lindsay came home they went on their first offical date; at dairy queen.
Matt and Lindsay had already talked about getting married, so they had been out together to look at rings a few months before. In November 2007, Lindsay took a trip out west to visit her family. While she was away sneaky Matt went to the ring store and picked up a beautiful diamond ring.
All the big holidays passed and Matt was still hanging on to that beautiful ring.
One night Matt suggested that they go out for dinner after work. Lindsay agreed, since that meant she didn't have to make dinner.
They walked around for a bit to find a restaurant they could both agree on. They had a really nice meal and decided to take a long walk home. It was an unusually warm January night.
They walked down Elgin street and around the parliament buildings. Matt suggested that they take a stroll over to the cat house and see if any cats were living there in the winter. There were no cats to be found, so they kept on their way.
They arrived at the lookout behind the library of parliament and stopped to look at the frozen river (it really was a beautiful night). Matt was standing behind Lindsay and called her name, she didn't turn around because she was trying to figure out if someone was walking across the river. He tried again. This time she turned around; to find Matt down on one knee with an open ring box.
Lindsay immediately started to cry, and ofcourse said yes.
