Szeyang & Leeling

Our Story

A simple tale to share how we started off and had since then spend 9 years together. Our life together is simple, with plenty of daily quibbles, a number of obstacles, but suprisingly we had always managed to pull off with them.

Thank you for reading our stories. We wish you happy days always. :D

March 1998

Nanyang JC, First School Term after 3 months of Orientation
March 1998

There were only 4 boys in my class. Duh . . 1 pretty chatty, 1 quite mischievous, 1 already attached with a girl in my class, and the last one unusually quiet, with 2 big ears. . (hehehehe) nothing much to look at, i better concentrate on my textbook then.
:( ~ Ling

There were 3 times the number of girls compared to the boys. Wow! Actually I'm more uncomfortable with this ratio since I was from a boys' school previously, so most of the time, I just hang my head low due to shyness...

Mid 1998

JC year one
Mid 1998

Hmmm, i was the class representative of my class. Hence i tried to be nice to everyone in my class so as to make my job easier. Hah this sze yang, the one with big ears huh, always so quiet and didn't seem to have much confidence, i must talk to him more, must make him more comfortable with us. He always walk with his head hanging down, almost touch the floor liao. heheheh . . we always joked that he is looking for money on the floor. :P so bad of us. ~ Ling

Hmmm, I was never a good talker in front of girls, so I mostly just hang out with my other male friends. Oh but this particular petite girl always want to talk to me... I have nothing that attracts her what, I guess she just wants to be nice ba. ~ Yang

Mid 1998

Our ECA was Chinese Cultural Club
Mid 1998

We just became the committee members of CCS (Chinese Cultural Club). I was the vice-president and he, the quarter-master. hEheHe same class same ECA. . hmmm . . We started to prepare for the Annual Chinese Drama Night 1999. We both acted in the same drama too. Ehh too much of coincidence bah . . hmmm. . ~ Ling

I found her to be quite unique at that time. She does seem to catch my attention actually... and I tend to want to impress her sometimes with my "act gung-ho" style...hehe ~ Yang

End of 1998

Intense Rehearsals for Chinese Drama Nite
End of 1998

Through the rehearsals, i grew to like him more. He is shy as compared to others, always ready to lend a helping hand. And he treats me very well too. Maybe he likes me too? haa i must investigate. . . :P ~ Ling

I wanted to be nice to her, show her more concern during our hectic rehearsals, like tilting the wall fan over to her... ~ Yang

1 Jan 1999

An important Call
1 Jan 1999

We finally started being together officially. :) I had no experience before that. I'm pretty nervous. . . :D ~ Ling

I screwed up big time in my first confession via a call! Oh no... will she get the wrong meaning? I'm nervous to the extreme. ~ Yang

The long 2.5 years wait
Jan 2000

He is going into the army. The long wait is unbearable. He only comes back on Sat and Sun and he is going back again. Even when he was home, most of the time, he was quite depressed and stoning was the usual activity for him. Throughout the tough period, we managed to keep our relationship stable. But the depression coming from the wait was sometimes too overwhelming. We had to catch each other tight. ~ Ling

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Army is the most unbearable time for me. Imagine Kungfu Panda going to the army. Despite always resorting to stone my way through the long period, she is always there for me. I forgot how to act cute or macho in front of her anymore. I forgot how to make her smile or laugh anymore. I can never imagine how much I owe her... ~ Yang
May 2002
The Wait was finally over
May 2002
He finally ORD! Hopefully there will be better life for us! He has more important choices to make, as he was going to continue his studies. The future was unpredictable, but at least the worst is over. ~ Ling
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Freedom!!! I promise her I'll treat her good from now on! No more stoning! I really appreciated her waiting for me even when I always throw tantrums due to depression during the dreadful uniform wearing days. ~ Yang

2002 - 2006

it was like yesterday, but 7 years had passed
2002 - 2006

We lead a normal couple life. We always have things to quarrel about. Fortunately, we always managed to patch things up. We both have some tough moments, but we tried our best to support each other, and things finally turn better. We wouldn't know the future, we just hope we can last like this, for as long as we could. :) ~ Ling

I had a lot of stress during the Poly days, but definitely is better than being in the army. I even brought her to the Equinox for her birthday! I told myself, this girl struggled with me through my army days. I will spoil her with everything I've got. ~ Yang

A Crowded Proposal by the Bay
30 July 2006 cool evening

As we munched on our food, i can't help but notice he had been behaving very strangely throughout the day. We are at the Esplanade, supporting his friend, who was part of a band and will be performing tonight at the Theatre By the Bay. We were having our dinner at a restaurant near to the stage and we can see the performance from a distance. Once in while, he will take a quick glance at the time, and continued eating. hmmmm very supicious. . . i decided to test him out.

"Can we dun go near the stage later?" i asked.

"CANNOT!" he blurted out. -_-''

Wow, this is so very serious, dun tell me he wanted to do anything funny.

"You dun do anything funny later huh, i will run away!" i threatened him.

"orh . . . " there is no sincernity in his answer. . .

I started to see if there was any route for emergency exit.

Near 7.30pm, he suggested we watched beside the stage. hmmm. . after watching about 10min, his friend on stage suddenly announced:

"i have a friend here tonight who wanted to do something very special . . "

and before i knew it, i was being dragged across the audiences to the centre of the seats. Wah! I quickly covered my face . .

Breaking in cold sweat, he started his brave but sweet proposal. Though feeling very embarrassing, i was very touched as he is not one who like to be in the limelight. I think the crowd find it very entertaining, as they cheered for him and they sing along to a song he dedicated to me, sung by the band.

It was indeed very memorable, and at the end of the thing, i realised many of his friends had came to support him and were hiding in the audiences. A sweet chapter of my life is made possible by him. ~ Ling

That is the most stressful day of my entire life. Not the day before my Chemistry exam, not the day when I have to go through the 16km route march with blisters on my feet, but the day that all boyfriends fear... To propose!

After my all-out blurt of my pre-memorised speech (which turned out to be totally different from my pre-memorised speech), The next thing I feel is my stomach churning... Poor tummy. I was so nervous before the speech that I stuff my mouth full of almost all the oatmeal prawns at the dinner to hide my trembling teeth. After that I spent the whole night sick with the over-eating... ~ Yang

Our Solemnization at Carlton Hotel Courtyard
24 March 2007

After much preparation and spending, we finally held our Solemnization ceremony at Carlton Hotel Courtyard. It was a very small, intmate celebration with only 30 guests, most of them were family and relatives. It was a joy to see everyone happy and enjoying themselves.

A sweet prelude to our Wedding in 2008. ~ Ling & Yang

21 June 2008

Join us at the Garden of Love . . .
21 June 2008

Almost 2 years after the proposal, we will be holding our wedding banquet at Novotel Clarke Quay. We wouldn't ask for more, except to hope that everything will be fine and it will be a great night for everyone. ~ Ling & Yang
