For years, Cabo San Lucas was a remote playground reserved solely for private yacht owners and big-game fishermen, who flocked here to be near "Marlin Alley," the waters around Cabos that have often been described as the billfish capital of the world.

But Cabo is far from remote these days, and the attractions in this magical spot go far beyond marlin fishing. Today, the resort town of Cabo San Lucas, on the slender cape extending eastward from Baja's southernmost tip, offers something for everyone!

Because of its proximity to California and isolation from mainland Mexico, Los Cabos has a conspicuous "north-of-the-border" attitude that gives the area an appealing cultural duality. But there's no denying the resort's Mexico-by-the-sea ambiance.

A natural wonderland where the desert collides with the confluence of the Pacific Ocean and the Sea of Cortez, Cabo San Lucas' friendly locals, rugged beauty and natural wonders attract fishermen, beach lovers and eco-tourists alike. Visitors are surrounded by endless cactus desert backed by vermilion mountains bordered by miles of white sandy beaches and clear, azure waters.

But that's not all! Cabo San Lucas also offers an exciting selection of daytime tours and activities, world-class golfing, fine restaurants, sophisticated shopping, luxury accommodations, a slick 300-slip marina, and an active nightlife.

Most of Cabo's attractions are within five blocks of the marina and the new state-of-the-art dolphin center, Cabo Dolphins. Several shopping malls anchor the marina's east side, while the sprawling Tesoro Resort dominates the rest of the town's waterfront. Across from the marina, facing a string of deluxe beachfront resorts, is beautiful Medano Beach, Cabo San Lucas' swimming beach and a haven for all sorts of water sports.

In short, if you want to vacation in a Mexican beach resort that offers luxurious amenities, along with the opportunity to take part in some water-based fun, golf, all night partying - or perhaps a taste of all these - then Cabo San Lucas could be just the place you're looking for!
