Saw this post from one of my forum fren today. Hai..it has come too late...
Sad to say, we are still suprised that the standard BIG $80 ang bao would come from colleagues and frens. Tot that this would only happen to those old distant relatives. And also for the RSVP part. You would be amazed by the creativity of the ppl nowadays, from the different kind of sickness, up to "forgetfulness" to nv receive ur invitation (but has alr previously RSVP and Save-the-date), to mixing up the date which they alr have a pre-agreed commitment to attend some other ppl's wedding, to informing you that they couldnt make it via facebook on your AD itself (i wonder if they expect us to have the time to surf facebook? And wat happen to our trusty and handy HP via sms??). Ya these ppl are those who last min couldnt make it and didnt give any ang bao..maybe they expect tat we can somehow cover the cost...
But on the other hand, wedding is a celebration of our union with our life partner and we are celebrating it with our loved ones and frens. So, we cant expect them to pay for our banquet and cover uor cost. Its just sad that for those who cant celebrate with us and cant even be bothered to inform us properly, pls dun do this to your other frens in the future. And if you dun wanna celebrate with us, pls dun rsvp with us in the 1st place and last min no show. It would really save us a lot of trouble and cost.
But there are also great frens who couldnt make it for the dinner but would take the trouble to come all the way into Sentosa, to Rasa before the banquet, just to congras us, before rushing to their other pre-agree commitment.
Luckily the no. of such no show ppl, or those who last min doesnt feel like coming and came up with such creative reasons are very little. At least this means that our yan(3) guang(1) for true frens are still quite good :P So it really takes a wedding to know who ur true frens are.
