Matt and Maggie met in the fall of 2006. Maggie was working for a judge in the Disctrict of Columbia and Matt was working for the Department of Justice as a Deputy U.S. Marshal. They started off as friends, but Maggie secretly had a crush on Matt (one she didn't want to admit to anyone). She referred to him as "the Marshal" for so long, that many people in her family still think his name is Marshal. They went on their first date in November 2006 and Matt swept Maggie off her feet with his love of cheese fries. They moved in together in August 2007 and bought a home in April 2008. They live in bliss (well mostly) with their two kitties and one doggy in Arlington, VA.
Matt went out of town for work for three weeks this summer. When he got back, he suggested that they go out to a nice restaurant. The restaurant is an all you can eat Brazilian Steakhouse that is pretty famous here in D.C. It was a pretty pricey restaurant, so Maggie thought something might be up. When he did not propose during dinner, she figured he just wanted to go to a nice meal to celebrate his return from Texas. Once they got home, he came out of the kitchen with a bottle of champagne and suggested that they toast his being back from home. They went outside on the balcony with the champagne and watched a thunder and lightening storm off in the distance. After a few minutes, Matt turned towards Maggie, got down on one knee and proposed.
