Everyone who is on facebook is surely familiar with our deluge of selfies... For the rest of you, and those who just can't get enough, here's a pictorial of the well documented roller coaster ride that is the Werner&Marli story!
They call it an engagement shoot, but since we've already been engaged for one year (exactly!) today, I guess it's more of a cause-we-can shoot with our wedding photographer.
We met in April, fell in love in July, got engaged in October and finally lived in the same country from December 2007. This is how it all started... with a whole lot of kissing going on!
One month after we got together, Werner had to return to the States to continue his studies there. In a fabulous twist of fate, I'd already planned a trip to the USA for October 2007... Adding on two weeks to include Madison, Wisconsin in the itinerary was an obvious answer to the issue of sky-high phone bills!
After Madison I travelled to LA with my good friend Lauren where we shared an absurdly celebrity-filled time in Lala land! Later we met up with Werner in Vegas, where we obviously didn't tie the knot in an Elvis-led wedding chapel, though we sometimes wish we had!
So then Werner came to NYC for a weekend, and told me not to plan anything for the Saturday. He also said we'd have to be up early and that I should dress comfortably, but would probably want to look nice. With these clues, I came up with the answer: He's taking me on a sex & the city tour bus! Little did I know...
When Werner had gone back to Madison, I had another week in NYC with Lauren and my new friend Lucy... good times.
From the day we got engaged, 27 October 2007, we had a seemingly neverending separation of two months... Well a girl had to keep herself occupied! This is what I got up to in the few waking hours per day that we WERE'NT on skype.
Eventually, the long awaited date... 17 December = Reunited at last! Lucy and I were very happy. And it was summer in the city and the living was easy.
As soon as possible we had a big party on the roof at Rick's and all our friends rejoiced together, singing like a heavenly choral... Well not really, but it was a good party!
So in between my frantic wedding-wedding-wedding obsessive behaviour, we do still get out and about now and then... yay.
