Keith and I went to high school together at Jefferson-Scranton HS. We had always known each other growing up and the first memory that I have of Keith is when I was at his house with his sister Paige and another friend after softball practice one summer. The girls were laying out on the pond and Keith and Charlie Hane were both on the roof throwing rocks at us. What a great first memory :)
We started to get to know each other better in French class my sophomore year of high school and Keith's junior year. The following year we were both with a bunch of friends that went to Ames for a movie. After the movie, Keith asked me out on a date and the rest is history! We count our anniversary as Oct. 11, 2003.
On Monday August 4th, I went to work at Granite City in West Des Moines. Keith earlier that day had told me that he was going home to Jefferson to get his car fixed and he would be back on Tuesday. I had to work the closing shift that night and I didn't get off until about 11:45 PM.
On the way home from work, I called Keith and he told me that he was home and was headed to bed and would be back the next morning. (The night before, Keith had taken my keys and made a copy without me knowing). I opened my apartment door and there were a little over 200 candles burning everywhere and Keith was standing there all dressed up. He gave a little speech and got down on one knee! He had been there all night and to top it off, he made all of my favorite foods and we had a candlelit dinner after he asked me to marry him!
Keith graduated from Central College in May, 2008 with a business management degree. He is currently living in West Des Moines and attending Drake Law School.
I also graduated from Central College in May, 2008 with a degree in exercise science health promotion. I am currently attending Mercy College of Health Sciences to get my BSN in nursing. I am working at Mercy Hospital on the pediatric floor and live in West Des Moines.
