We have been blessed with many wonderful friends and family members...many more than we have spots to honor; we wish we could include them all! However, Matt and I have chosen a wedding party of 8 bridesmaids and 8 groomsmen; those whose friendship and relationship has meant the world to us and has left foot prints on our hearts that will forever remain.
Brianna is my precious, 8 year old sister. She is my gift from God, my dream come true. Many years ago, I would often tell my mom that I wanted a baby sister. She would nicely laugh at me and remind me that I had a little brother, who was our last baby. I repeatedly had dreams of my mom having another child - a baby girl. I would always wake up and tell my mom, who would sweetly listen but would think I was crazy. Well, as it turned out, I was right! God gave our family a huge blessing no one saw coming. And what a joy Brianna has been :)
She is a girl to the core - Queen of pink, a princess in training, a true diva who dances and sings, and our first family artist. Brianna is FULL of life and resembles our Grandma Betty Worthley in every way. She has an enormous heart and feels things deeply. She's sensitive, caring, helpful, and brillant. She is my true buddy and my proud flower girl! About 4 years ago she looked up at me and said, "Heather, I am going to be your flower girl when you get married, right?" I told her that as long as God didn't make me wait until I was 30, she could plan on it ;)
So, here she is. A professional flower girl of 3 other weddings, going on her fourth: Miss Brianna Worthley
Megan is my older sister who despite arguing over barbies, poly-pockets, and mirror space with me throughout the years, is an irreplacable person in my life. She is unique, brillant, quick witted, and beautiful. Megan has the ability to make everyone around her laugh in a matter of seconds; I love it! Megan is a great listener and a loyal friend. I know she will always be there for me when I need her :). I am truly blessed to have a sister like Megan stand beside me and help me plan my big day. Lucky for me, Megan is also a wedding coordinator! Check her out at http://www.megandaubertevents.com/
Words can hardly describe who Katelynn was, much less who she was to me. Katelynn was beautiful inside and out and her presence made the world a better place. She loved with all her heart, danced without thinking twice, and sang no matter who was listening. Katelynn was my one of my best friends since we were about 5. I don't remember life without her in it, making it better and brighter. Katelynn knew the good and the bad of me, and loved me just the same. With Katelynn, I forgot about the troubles of the world because her happy spirit was so contagious. When I think of my Kate I can hardly remember her ever saying anything bad about anyone. Katelynn cared for all and gave to others with everything in her. I miss her terribly every day of my life, and selfishly my heart breaks that she can't be here to experience this time in my life with me. But I am so thankful I had 15 years of unforgetable friendship and I have peace that surpasses my understanding, knowing that she is with our loving Savior in a much, much better place. I can not wait to see her again soon; she will be forever missed, because there is truly none like her.
Michelle is one of Matt's two younger sisters. She is currently a sophmore at Virginia Tech. Throughout the years of dating Matt, I have had the privilege of getting to know Michelle and growing closer to her every time I see her. Michelle has a heart of gold and is always there to listen and understand others. I can laugh my head off with Michelle, and have serious heart-to-hearts with Michelle :). I am so thankful for a new sister like her. She has a gentle and beautiful spirit, and I am honored to be her sister-in-law!
Kelly is Matt's second younger sister, and is currently a senior in high school. I have also had the privilege of getting to learn more of who Kelly is and getting to know more and more of her heart. Kelly is an extremely talented young woman who is a loyal friend and is not afraid to stand out from the crowd. She is bold, courageous, and has thankfully come to love me too ;)! When I am with Kelly, I always feel as if I am talking to a friend my age, not just a younger sister. I value my relationship with Kelly and could not have imagined two sister-in-laws better then Kelly and Michelle. I am excited for all the years to come of continuing to grow closer with Kelly :).
Shelley Wingo was my college roomate during freshmen and sophmore year and has been my housemate during our last two years at JMU. (We actually went to high school together too and had no clue we would one day be best friends!) When I look back at my college years, I will forever think of Shelley. Shelley was TRULY given to me by God and has been a consistent source of comfort, love, friendship, and life to me. Shelley is one of a kind; a diamond in the rough. She is stunning inside and out, patient, considerate, and an extremely loving friend. Shelley can make the best impersonations of anyone and is hilarious and charming. The Lord could not have given me a better roomate, and I see how perfect His timing with our frienship has been. When I lost one best friend, I was given another. Shelley has held my heart when the tough times of life have nearly ripped it apart, and has joined my heart in the humor of life. Shelley will always be one of my treasures :)
Meg, Margs, Marg-u-reet, has been one of my best friends since my first year of college at JMU. Meg's smile was impossible to miss from day one, and her joy and life drew me to her immediately. Meg has been a solid, encouraging, and wise friend to me throughout the past four years. Her deep love for God is inspiring and uplifting and I could not have gone through these last four years of life without her. Meg has also been there for me through thick and thin and has been a best friend in every sense of the word. Meg is constantly thinking of others and is fabulous at making others feel loved and encouraged. Her many talents and skills enable her to add the "perfect touch" to anything. She truly makes the world a more beautiful place. I couldn't imagine my wedding without Meg by my side.
Whitney has been another one of my best friends from JMU since freshmen year. Whitney roomed next door to Shelley and I in Bell Hall, and we quickly fell in friendship love :). Whitney is passionate about life, is always a positive person to be around, and is an extremely loyal friend. Whitney values the Lord, her family, and her friends above all else and is always there to point me in the right direction and remind me of the right priorities in life. Whitney's friendship is invaluable and I am honored to know her heart. Whitney has seen Matt and my relationship grow since year 1, and we are delighted to have her in our wedding party :).
Sarah has also been one of my best friends since freshmen year of college. Sarah was Whitney's roommate and they clicked with Shelley and I right away! Sarah and I have always seemed to understand one another well, and pick up where we've left off no matter how long its been since our last heart-to-heart. Sarah and I have shared many similar pains in life and have been able to overcome them together and learn from one another's encouragement as we've grown in Christ. Sarah is full of life and loves to laugh, learn, and drink coffee :). I could sit and talk to Sarah for hours on end and never grow tired. I treasure Sarah Joy and would be honored for her to stand by my side!
Julie was my first Virginian friend when I was four. I went to Sunday School at MAG and being the shy child I was, I went and sat at the table by myself. Julie came over, sat down next to me with her auburn curls, and said, "Hi, I'm Julie. Want to be friends?" After that the rest was history. Julie and I grew up playing princess, playing house, playing bride, and many other things. Who knew that one day we would both be in each others weddings..both in June! God is good :). Julie has always held a special place in my heart, and always will. Julie is beautiful, passionate, fun, and my twin in so many ways. I love her dearly and am so thankful that the Lord blessed me with her in my life. I am THRILLED to have her in my wedding :)
