They met in ‘97 when Katii had 7th grade English with his brother Steven. Katii fell in love with the entire Lessick Family and was always over at the house. So by default, Katii and Matt sort of became friends too.

Then came Katii’s Senior Year (2002). Matt was now a Freshman and his crush for Katii was in full bloom. Katii secretly crushed after him as well, but Seniors can’t date Freshman, so Katii “adopted” Matthew as “her Freshman” instead and dragged him everywhere. A few months before Katii’s Senior Prom, she suddenly became dateless, and Matt offered to save the damsel in distress by offering to be her date. Summer of ‘02 Katii and Matt had a fight over something really silly, but they ended up not talking for 2 years.

So time goes by, and a few years later Mrs. Lessick invited Katii over to catch up. During their chat, Matt and Steven came home from the gym. Matt was now a Senior himself, and all grown up. Their eyes met for the first time in 2 years and nothing had changed, except now they were older...and High School politics were a thing of Katii’s past. Funny enough, the tables had turned and Matt needed a date to HIS Senior Prom, so Katii saved the knight in shining armor by offering to be his date. They began dating almost immediately and became an official couple March 22, 2005.

On March 18, 2007 Matt and Katii were walking along Myrtle Beach during Spring Break. Out of nowhere, Matt stopped walking and pulled her toward him. He said “you make me so happy...I love you Katii.” Katii, now realizing what was about to happen, got really flustered and ran away. More of a dash than a run...and she knew Matt could catch her. Of course he easily caught up to her, tackled her with a hug, and whispered “Say you’ll marry me” in her ear.

Now they've said I Do, and are enjoying the 'quiet' moments before embarking on the rest of their lives together :-)
