Bridal Shower! Fun! Fun! Fun!

It has been weeks since our last posting.  Yes, I have been busy in wedding preparation and Daniel has been swamped at work. Last Saturday, my girl friends threw me a bridal shower.  Thanks them for all of preparation, pretty flower decoration and delicious food.  One of fun activities was they used pictures from magazines and made collage for answers that Daniel gave to them.  Then, they asked me to answer the question they asked Daniel by looking at the collage. ...

Thank you for your RSVPs!!

Thank you for your RSVPs.  The deadline has passed, we are very excited that so many of you are coming (130+). When Mavis and I first realized the number was going to exceed our original prediction, we were kind of worried about the seating situation. After checking with the restaurant manager, we think we can still fit you all. Just to give you a little heads-up, the reception will be a little crowded, but everyone will have a seat.  You might need to sit with someone that you...

Weekly update-08/10/08

Yesterday (8/9/08), Daniel and I went to a wedding.  A friend I met in Eugene, OR got married in Kitsap Peninsula, where we had to take ferry across the Puget Sound.  I got a chance to meet some other friends who attend/ attended the same church in Eugene as I did.  The wedding was very simple, but you definitely felt warm and not bored.  What impressed me a lot is there was no game time and no slide show during the reception.  However, I didn't feel bored and I can...

Wedding Dress

This past Wed, I brought my wedding dress to a tailor for alteration.  After measuring and checking the dress, the tailor suggested me to spend the weekend and look for a dress in a more recent style.  I borrowed the dress from a good friend who got married almost 10 years ago.  So, you can image.......  Well, I don't really mind. So, I kind of thought that it won't hurt to take a look.  Today, Gloria, my bridesmaid went to a bridal shop with me to try on some...

Wedding Trio and Wedding Cake

Mavis and I are in the final stretch of our wedding preparation (It feels like a never-ending process).  I guess this is probably the craziest time. We are learning to make time for the preparation and also to relax.   This past Saturday, we had our wedding trio first practice.  Because of our intention to make our wedding “unique”, Mavis picked some music that is not traditional wedding music.  She also did the first draft arrangement on computer by leveraging off...

Moving day

Last Saturday was Mavis last day living at Kent. Because the rent increase, she decided to move to a friend's house in Bothel. Mavis has moved many times since she moved to Seattle (U-district, Bellevue, Kent, and now Bothel), so moving is not something that she particularly likes.  Poor her. She has been kind of stressed out. Luckily, the moving went pretty smoothly.  Thanks to our friends in fellowship, we were able to finish moving in a few hours. It was a pretty hot day (in...

What is my dream family?

Last Sunday after cake tasting, Daniel and I went to UW campus for a walk.  When we were at fountain, we saw a duck mom with her 9 kids.  She was watching her kids closely and those little ducks were either enjoying the sun or swimming in the pool.  Watching ducks made me think about my future family life.  How many kids can we afford?  What type of job can I have in order to support the family while I can do something I like?  This might also relate to my...

Happy July 4th!!!!

This week is July 4th week.  Daniel and I had our engagement picture shooting.  Thanks our friend, Isaac for being our photographer.  The photo shooting was fun.  Sometimes, it was hard to act naturally when you knew someone was taking pictures of you, even though I had pictured many different ways in mind over and over. After photo shooting, we went to a friend's for B.B.Q party and firework watching.  Well, as usual, B.B.Q and firework are always the things to do...

Retreat, Recharge and Refresh

This weekend, Daniel and I attended our church retreat.   Both of us got a chance to rest and refresh our mind.  We also spent some time with our friends.  Either chatted, shared or played group games and UNO cards.  It was a very nice weekend. During the retreat, through worship and speaker's sermon, God spoke to and reminded us different things.  It is nice to actually slow down and put work, our routine and wedding preparation away.  Quiet our hearts...

Happiness Egg tart (幸福蛋塔)

This past weekend was a pretty busy weekend for us and our friends at fellowship.  the guys have an old school hangout time (video games and manly foods) at Daniel Hu's while the girls attended DongHui's bridal shower.  In the evening, we had a egg tart making party at DongHui's. In between, we also celebrated Jason's birthday. Mavis and I also attended a simple wedding reception for her coworker. On Sunday, we had a full day of fund raising activities at church. On top of all that,...
