Chronicles of POW

Chronicles of POW (Planning Our Wedding)

I am very much a planner in nature. Being in the field of event organizing, many may assume that planning my own wedding would be an easy task. However, in fact, it is the hardest event I had to plan. Truthfully, the whole thought flowing process started even before his proposal! But it all geared up after our ROM. Here, lays the whole process step by step of how painstaking preparations, will eventually pay off. Hope it helps all brides to be out there.

Date

Date

Step 1: Picking A Date

We have innitially wanted many different dates, due to mane reasons, some significant memorable date, some auspicious and many other reasons.

However, we finally settled on

*drum rolls*

31st December 2008

Why this date?

* Its darn easy to remember - NO EXCUSE for him to forget our anniversary. :P

* We want to party with all of our closest friends and relatives

* We want to start a new year fresh with happy memories

* We got a really great deal from the restaurant! :P

Step 2: Set a budget

Money Money Money!

Money is everything (No! ALMOST everything)

Being a silly gal who did not ran away and marry a rich guy, there is quite a challenge making sure the dream wedding is achieved without getting broke. (no regrets though sayang! Muacks)

Ideally, I would love to have a ballroom draped in gold, 916K gold dust all over, every guest be given a set of gold jewelleries to put on, bling bling everywhere, diamond dust as confetti... (oh, you get the idea). But, I'm just regular May, so here is what we planned, realistically.

Sort out a max capped amount, that you cant go above that.

The we started to partition that amount into few categories

- dinner
- BOOZE
- bridal studio
- photography
- make up artist
- lai kam/ pingkam
- favours
- cake
- asssories, shoes & bag
- gifts to chi muis
- ang pow for actual day
- misc fund

*mental note: DIY as many things as I can

We are still sorting this out, hope everything turns out fine!

Venue

Venue

Step 3: Find a venue

Venue selection has to be one of the hardest task. We have surveyed so many locations, and for the longest time we cant decide on the right one. We were contemplating between hotels, restaurants, themes, concepts, indoor, outdoor, garden, beach, so many ideas, so many challenges too. We have 2 locations to crack our heads on too, KL and Penang.

However, finally we have decided.

For KL, we have chosen Tai Thong of Tropicana Golf & Country Resort. Why?

* They have the date we wanted
* They gave us a great deal. Free travel vouchers & wine for every table
* Surrounding is perfect. Quiet, homely. (not some KTV like other Tai Thong restaurants.
* Ample parking bays
* Huge ballroom layout, without pillars blocking
* Less quantity of tables to confirm. Minimum 30
* Food quality should be good (Tai Thong group) - However, yet to have our food tasting session

As for Penang, we have chosen Penang Chinese Recreation Club. Have made many calls and browse on the net, however, its hard to find the right one when we cant view the actual venue itself. So how did we settled for this venue? Guess who chose this venue. Parents In Law! (nuff said)

Bridal House

Step 4: Finding the right Bridal Shop/House for you

Have been searching the web for a while, and finally settled for this. Also mainly because from Tai Thong restaurant, I have a discount voucher for this bridal house. Have viewed their collection of dresses, not too bad. So, no need to crack our heads any futher, this one it is.

Had our photoshoot and the pictures back, one word... fabulicious!! (if that is even a word!)
