Really, who reads these pages? For those who want to know how it all began anyway, here it goes. We met online; Mel was getting to the point where she was considering paying for an online dating service after moving by her lonesome to lil' ol' Olean, and Scott was clever enough to "hide" his Yahoo messanger name in a Yahoo personal add so she didn't have to. After communicating on Yahoo messanger for a few weeks, the original first date game plan was for the two to go to Sprague's Maple Farm, which fell through when Scott didn't get back from his parents' place in Southwestern PA until a half hour before the place closed. Incidentially, we spent almost his entire three hour drive back to Ole-izzle on the phone. Sigh...anywho, Scott did one better than Sprague's: he offered to make homemade pizza. Mel drove over to Scott's apartment on a relatively snowy day before Martin Luther King Day (yeah, she broke the online dating safety rule and went to his place...good thing Scott wasn't an ax murderer, huh?) and was a wee bit confused when she parked and didn't see the place. She called from her cell phone, Scott went to the door and waved so she could see him and informed her that she was in the wrong parking lot, she needed to be one lot over. Well, it was a terrific evening, a wonderful dinner, and the following evening Scott took the night off of work so they could go to Sprague's after all (and then come back to his place, watch Napoleon Dynamite, and make out). The rest, they say, is history!
