Many of you got to share the excitement of the proposal right along with us! For those of you who did not let me fill you in...
On Saturday February 23, 2008 Bryan hosted a beef & beer to support his re-election campaign to the Bensalem Township Council this year (the election is 10 days before the wedding, yikes!). I spent the day with Bryan's Mom decorating the hall, setting up desserts, etc. Once the fundraiser started, it was a blur of activity. Bryan was working the room and I was selling 50/50 tickets along with Bryan's sister Megan. At some point Bryan asked me to come with him while he gave a "thank you" speech to all the friends and family who had come out to suport him. I thought nothing of it and followed him up to the front of the room.
He started out thanking his parents and grandparents for their unwavering love and support (which he tends to forget to do most times he has this chance). Then he moved on to thanking all of the other family and friends who were there. Next he started telling the crowd about how happy he felt after our first date, how he has been happier each day still...now I started to suspect this was more than a "thank you" speech. Before I knew it he was down on bended knee with brilliant diamond ring shining up at me asking me to spend the rest of my life making him just as happy.
Of course I said YES and we shared a big hug and kisses and a dance to the Rascal Flatts song "God Blessed the Broken Road". Although there were plenty of eyes focused on us (many tear filled) it seemed like we were the only two people in the room. Once the song was over we had many of our loved ones right there to congratulate us and share in the celebration!
It was a night that neither of us will ever forget and luckily Aunt Cathy had a camera handy to catch the moment for us!
