As Michael and Mindy plan their wedding, details of the event will be documented here. Find out which theme they will choose, where to hold the celebration, who the guests are and other particulars as you read through the couple's online journal.

This is our first time to meet up with the caterer and we decided to go to the wedding event they are organizing so we can have an idea of how they work, their setup, the staff, etc. The wedding event where we also had our food tasting was somewhere in Road 20, QC. Elsa, the aunt of the owner, was there to assist us. We took home several food samplers (we didn't have the time to consume the food there) and greatly loved the Roast Beeftips in Gravy Sauce and Chicken Cordon Bleu. Expect for these menu on our wedding.

Parish of the Holy Sacrifice
UP Campus, Diliman, QC
We have decided to change our wedding ceremony and moved it to UP Chapel. We prefer this church because of its accessibility. It also has better views for picture taking. Plus it is more popular, so providing directions to suppliers is easy as breeze.

I did ocular inspection for 2 hotels today: one is at The Orange Place which is located along Kamias Avenue near EDSA. The place was indeed accessible however I didn't appreciate the hotel features. The rooms are crampy and a bit small. However, Janet, the hotel staff, was very accomodating.
On the same route on my way home, I dropped by at Fersal Place in Kalayaan Avenue, near QC Hall. This hotel is near our ceremony location so it is quite ideal to stay here the night before the wedding. I find the place good enough, with an affordable price but with a limited number of rooms. If I will be getting this for our rooms, I would definitely need to book this place at least a month before.

Sponsored by a great friend, we placed a 50% downpayment for the video service from Photoline digital services. What we have agreed is an MTV style video edited copy and 3 mini DV tapes of raw coverage.

Seeing the big billboard along Quezon Avenue about its affordable hotel room rates, we decided to go to Sir Williams Hotel and check the place ourselves.
We were not satisfied with the overall ambiance of the hotel. Getting a parking space is not very easy. You may have to park the car in front of the hotel along the road. We went it and talked to one of the receptionists and informed them of our purpose there. She assisted us into looking at the rooms. Upon learning that we will be using the rooms for a wedding, she said that a P500 surcharge will be added to the room rate because usage of the electricity is expected to be high. The rooms were a bit gloomy too.
Aside from its location and the area being a bit crowded (we are afraid we might get stuck with traffic), we decided to not get this place.

May 3rd was a holiday in line with the Philippine Labor Day celebration. This is also when I arranged a meeting with the caterer for our contract signing. Tess, the aunt and co-owner of the company, met up with me at McDonald's Ever. Other than the contract signing, we discussed the menu, the table arrangements, the payment terms and other reception details. I am not confident with how things worked out so I confessed that I should speak with Hazel next time for more details on the reception.

Myk fortunately got his baptismal certificate with no problems. However, going there was not a good experience for him as he almost got lost.

St. Peter's Parish
932-9581 | 951-5150 | 409-3948 | 952-4404
Block 44, Lot 7 & 8 Commonwealth Ave., QC
I went to St. Peter's Parish and got my confirmation certificate hassle-free. I was charged P50 for the request. Provided wedding details like the wedding date, location of the ceremony, the name of the groom, and the name of the person requesting. Got the certificate after a few minutes. Another requirement completed! Yay!

Sto. Domingo Parish
#537 Quezon Ave., QC
After shift, I rushed to the church to claim my baptismal certificate. The church is a bit far from my work, so I really need to hurry since it closes 5pm (although it says on the office sign 6pm) and my shift would usually end a little before 4pm. I had the chance to have a little chat with Kuya Aloy, one of the instructors for the Kaibigan Movement Workshops. I was a former active member of Kaibigan Movement, a church organization that aims to develop skills among the youth such as playing guitars, self defense, etc.

We received our NSO Documents as part of the necessary documents requested by the church. The following documents were: CENOMAR (for Mike and myself) and authenticated copy of Birth Certificate (for Mike and myself). We applied for the documents online , paid via BDO, and received right at our own doorstep in three days. This is CONVENIENCE, I should say...

With Ivy (Bridesmaid) and Daisy (MOH), we headed to Divisoria to search for their gowns. Upon scouting the place, we have decided that it would be more convenient to have our own designs made than getting a ready to wear. We are looking at July for the completion of the gowns.

St. John the Baptist Parish
Mike couldn't recall if he has undergone confirmation when he was younger and neither is his mom. So he decided to get one for himself in time for the wedding. Confirmation is another requirement for a church wedding. Along with Tito Rey* as his sponsor, he attended the seminar/orientation beside the church which started 8am. The priest, who conducted the seminar, made interesting points regarding married life. The ceremony ended a little before midday.
*Other than being a confirmation sponsor for Mike, Tito Rey will also be one of our primary sponsors for the wedding.

We have booked our ticket for our Hong Kong honeymoon getaway. We are leaving Manila on the 9th and returns on the 11th. It's a 3 day-2 night stay at a hotel we haven't discovered yet. We are still looking for places to go to to complete our itinerary. If budget will allow us, we might also visit Macau.

After several layouts have been drafted and revised, our online invitation has finally been completed. We immediately started sending out our e-invites to all our guests who are overseas and/or those who are living at a distant location. The wedding invite was a collaboration of our creative brains.
Monday, June 07, 2010
At last, with the help of some friends, we got our marriage license hassle-free. This document is the last piece on the list that we need to accomplish before we get interviewed by the priest. We are looking forward to our canonical interview on Saturday, June 19.

Western, Trinoma Mall
Mike and I went to Trinoma for registration to our gift registry. Upon checking on the items that they sell, we both agreed that this is the best registry we have! We totally enjoyed browsing through their catalog and picking out items that we will need as we begin our married life. Our wishlist with Western is posted on our Wedding Gifts List.

It was a fine Sunday and Myk and I, together with Ate Diana and Myk's mom, went to Tutuban for shopping of our little angels' wedding entourage. We spotted several materials for the little girls' gown but I believe that the best material similar to what I have in mind is taffeta. For the little boys, we will have the same material as the groomsmen. Each of them is assigned a specific color --- either a pink, a blue or a purple. Ate Diana will be searching for added highlights on the gown for the girls because unfortunately, we weren't able to find what we were looking for in Tutuban.
At the same time, we also scouted for Mommy Maruja's gown for the wedding. She doesn't want to wear a typical beige/offwhite gown (the most common color for women of her age), she prefers getting oldrose. Since our motif is pink, blue and purple, old rose goes with the shades of pink so its not bad. Her ideal gown design is a spaghetti-strapped empire waist long gown, with a satin bolero.

It was really a fortunate timing that someone from Tondo has decided to have a mini reunion amongst the Cipres family. Several families have gathered and joined this gathering. We are actually looking for an opportunity such as this to announce our wedding plans. After the Sunday mass, we invited the people to join us on our wedding day. Everyone is thrilled that we are finally getting married. We have also informed five of our primary sponsors for the wedding, namely Daddy Bobot and Tita Helen, Tito Arnel and Tita Reming, and Tito Rey. They responded well to the invitation. Tita Reming left a comment "Magsimula na tayo magipon ng mga barya..."

Kalayaan Avenue, Diliman, Quezon City
I have previously inspected this place and find the location very accessible. We have booked our reservations for 2 rooms: 1 triple sharing room and 1 family suite. They say it is recommended to have most part of the entourage assemble in one location for better coordination.

Got 2 of the bridesmaid's gowns. Diana Francis will be making her gown with her own supplier. Distance hinders us from meeting each other to talk about this stuff.
I was supposed to bring home my gown too however the supplier made something funny on the gown that made it look really funny.. I know I look funny, my gown doesn't have to be. Will go back there next week.

This banner is printed in tarpaulin, care of my cousin Ate Minnie, will be placed in the hall entrance as a welcoming surprise for the guests.

Finally, after several days of waiting, the gowns for the little angels are complete! Here are two of the girls who will shower the aisle with flowers.

Our parish priests have finally approved and granted permission for us to get married outside our parish church. It has been three Sundays that our intention to marry was announced to the people. No one dared to impede the wedding. :)
