How We Met

True love can be found in many different places and in many different ways. Some have found their other half sitting across the bar from them, while walking their dogs, or even by chance encounters. While all of these make terrific stories, that is not how Mike and I met. We met on Yahoo - yes you read right -- the good ol world wide web.

Ironically, when I first found Mike online and I showed his pictures to my friends -- everyone of them said "Oh no - not that one. He doesn't even look like your type." Well unbeknownst to them, I contacted Mike and we decided to meet. He came to my house the Saturday after Thanksgiving to watch a movie. And of all the movies to watch on a first date, we watched THE BREAKUP with Jennifer Aniston and Vince Vaughn. I think Mike wanted to watch it so he could see Jennifer Aniston 1/2 naked!

As time went on our friendship and our feelings for one another grew. We are constantly joking around, laughing and continue to have the best time together.

Who would have thought that the guy that all my friends thought was "not my type" would turn into the one that I will be spending the rest of my life with!

The Proposal

The Proposal

Well Mike and I took our very first real vacation together in August 2008. We went to Colorado for a little over a week. I was so excited for this trip - we were going to hike to waterfalls, go whitewater rafting and just have a relaxing time.

What I didn't know was that Mike had bought me an engagement ring and was planning to propose on this very trip.

Well Day One in Colorado started with a wonderfully filling breakfast at the Big Horn Restaurant in Estes Park. After we ate, we took the aerial tram up to Prospect Mountain. We fed about a million chipmunks up there. They went crazy for the peanuts - crawling all over us. We started our climb up the side mountain looking at the breathtaking views. Then we came to one spot that looked out over Estes Park. And it was here that Mike got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. I of course was bawling, but I did say yes!!!!

So Prospect Mountain started all of our prospects for our life together.

PS - The photo shown here was taken by another hiker about 5 minutes before Mike proposed!!!
