Woo Hoo! We are so excited to have you involved in our big day.
Here are some photos and a brief introduction to each member
of our fabulous wedding party...
Jacklyn lives in Virginia, and immigrated to the United States from Korea over 30 years ago. She is active in her church choir, and has worked for Fairfax County Public Schools for over 18 years.
FUN FACT: Jacklyn is a noncertified weight consultant, and is constantly telling Christopher that he needs to lose weight (thanks Mom).
Mary lives in Kennedy, MN (population 287). Mary was born and raised in the Kennedy area, and has worked in the Kittson Central School system for the past 30 years as an English teacher, volleyball coach, girls basketball coach, yearbook advisor, and drama coach - oh and she raised Mindy and her 3 siblings...we're pretty sure she deserves a medal for that one!
FUN FACT: Mary hosts snipe hunting tours and ditch burning excursions (summers only, please call to inquire about pricing). She loves her grandchildren Chloe and Dusty dearly. She also makes excellent BBQs and peas (according to Christopher).
Shane and Christopher have known each other since they were 8 years old. Shane moved to Arizona when he was 16, and Christopher and he met up there again in 2004. Shane is a medical doctor specializing in obstetrics and gynecology, and is presently in his second year of residency in Chicago, IL.
FUN FACT: Shane and Christopher are both avid participators in the lost art of karaoke (and are awesome at it, along with Jim and Lionel, who you'll meet soon). The earliest memories Christopher has of singing with Shane involve hours of singing Chubby Checker songs, a cassette tape recording device, and Shane's sister Talia ending up with the final product...we think. You may encounter these performances on VH1's "Behind the Music" series in Fall, 2010 (when the world is more able to appreciate it). Shane is also known to many by his perfect bone structure.
Chrissy and Mindy met in Mindy's second year of grad school at UW - both were in the Psychology Ph.D. program -- Chrissy earned a degree in Social Psychology and Mindy in Developmental Psychology (Mindy was referred to as the "kid-lover"). Chrissy now lives in north Denver with her husband Zak and their two dogs, Tank and Lola. She works for the Colorado Department of Public Safety, Division of Criminal Justice as a statistical analyst. Chrissy is an avid yoga-er....yog-ey...??? (person who enjoys yoga).
FUN FACT: Chrissy has been known to alert others to her level of intoxication by stating "This is FUN"...just an FYI. She also calls slippers 'house shoes.' Big weirdo.
Zak and Christopher met through Chrissy/Mindy - they too share a love of the game of poker. Zak was in the Air Force, and now works with GPS-technology that neither Christopher nor Mindy understands fully (which makes him really cool).
FUN FACT: Zak can tell you any humanly-known fact about the Jeep, and can identify approximately 600 species of this elusive vehicle.
Nancy and Mindy have been friends since Mindy's sophomore year of college (at Concordia College in Moorhead, MN). They met when Mindy was an RA in Hoyum Hall, and Nancy was a freshman - Nancy peeked her head into Mindy's room and said "HI, I've seen you around, you seem interesting, want to be friends?". (Well, it was something like that...) Nancy has recently transitioned from teaching music to pursuing a career as a jazz singer in Minneapolis, MN.
FUN FACT: The Nancy Harms Trio performs at Rossi's in downtown Minneapolis 4+ nights a week - if you're around, go check them out! Christopher is Nancy's biggest fan, even though they have never met in person.
Christopher met Lionel through Jim at Patriots Cafe karaoke in Fairfax, VA many many moons ago. Lionel works for the U.S. Army doing things that "...he'd have to kill you..." if he told you about. Lionel is regularly mistaken for Darius Rucker, also known as the "Hootie" from the popular group "Hootie and the Blowfish" - however, when asked, he will graciously decline to sign any autographs.
FUN FACT: Lionel is the only surviving Black-Japanese man in the continental United States. According to legend, his Japanese side developed due to eating too much teppanyaki. Lionel also wholeheartedly believes that his car should travel at the same speed a jet does.
Dana and Mindy have known each other since Mindy's second year of graduate school at the University of Wyoming. Dana spent most of her life in Spencer, IA and is now living with her soon-to-be-husband Kai and their lovable dog Jack in Philadelphia (they will be married in the Virgin Islands in December!). At UW, Dana earned her Ph.D. in Social Psychology, focusing on jury research, and is now a trial consultant with Dispute Dynamics.
FUN FACT: Dana has been known to throw shoes at people late in the evening. She is also fluent in Spanish, and has some sweet bowstaff skills.
Jim and Christopher went to high school together, but didn't really get to know each other until they became roommates after completing college. Jim was glad to see Christopher move to AZ in 2004 because Christopher forced him to go out almost every night of the week - despite the fact the Jim needed to be up around 4:30am for work each day. Jim works in the field of IT, and recently completed his MBA (woo!).
FUN FACT: Jim recently became half the man he used to be (he lost 80 pounds over the past year). He now has a completely new wardrobe (lucky). However, this change did not seem to help him figure out how to properly use the 'back-up camera' in his Nissan Murano...oops.
Jody is Mindy's first cousin (and Bridget's sister). They grew up together in the farmland of northern Minnesota (until Jody moved to Minneapolis when she was 8). Since then, Jody has lived in Durango Colorado and most recently, has moved to Tampa Florida. Jody owns her own sales company, specializing in men and women's apparel, jewelry, and shoes.
FUN FACT: Jody and Mindy were early entrepreneurs; at the age of 5, they started "The Wallpaper Club". No one remembers the exact function of this entity, but it was very important back in the day. Jody does not like to be tickled; I repeat, DO NOT TICKLE.
Ethan is Mindy's youngest sibling (9 years younger) and is also the only boy in the Dahl family. Poor guy!! He is currently in his first year at University of Minneosta, Moorhead, majoring in English (potentially switching to Psychology) and also works for Tunheim Construction part-time.
FUN FACT: Ethan is a mean poker player...he learned most of his 'sweet skills' from his days as a Boy Scout. Seriously people, if you want to lose your money, just try to engage him. Just try.
Stacy is Mindy's younger sister (by 5 years) and lives in Moorhead, MN. She attends the University of Minnesota, Moorhead, and also works her butt off as the assistant manager of a Verizon Wireless store there.
FUN FACT: Yes, Mindy and Stacy do look a LITTLE bit alike...she had the unfortunate title of 'miniature Mindy' at certain points in her life. But Stacy is about 6 inches shorter. (Mindy just HAD to add that part, ha ha!) Stacy also loves anything in the shape of a star.
Matt and Christopher went to elementary school together, but didn't really 'meet' until 7th grade when a dispute over a basketball led them to become friends on the bus ride home. Matt is an attorney with Jones-Day in Chicago, IL and will be married to his fiancee Susannah in June 2008 (they also bought a new home there just last month, congrats!).
FUN FACT: Matt and Christopher used to walk to McDonald's every day after choir rehearsal - calling it an "extemporaneous jaunt". Matt, Shane, and Christopher used to drive around town in Jason Williams' VW Rabbit listening to "Square Dance Rap".
Jessi and Mindy are friends who met at work - they both serve the citizens of Wyoming at the Wyoming Department of Health, Mental Health & Substance Abuse Services Division. Jessi has an MSPH from the University of Hawaii (lucky!) and specializes in prevention work, particularly with mothers and children. Jessi is married to Eric, who is an English teacher and basketball coach here in Cheyenne; they share their house with their new dog, Charlie the golden lab.
FUN FACT: Jessi is from the Deadwood, SD area, and even SHE won't drive from Wyoming to South Dakota in the winter. Jessi also has a special place in her heart for mojitos from PF Changs.
Eric and Christopher/Mindy met through Jessi in the summer of 2007. Eric coaches basketball and teaches English here in Cheyenne (he is originally from Casper, WY). Although he lived in Hawaii with Jessi for 2 years prior to moving back to Wyoming, he still doesn't like sushi (although he is a mean eater of hot wings).
FUN FACT: Eric's family has a long-standing commitment to drinking Budweiser Brewing Company products. Ask him to recount this story for you sometime. He also is an avid fan of bocce ball, horseshoes, and hot tubs.
Bridget is Mindy's first cousin (and Jody's sister), who lives in gorgeous Santa Monica, California. Bridget works in the fashion industry for labels you have likely heard before...including Kay Celine, and has recently accepted a position with BCBG. She has two VIPs in her life: her dogs Nala and Haven.
FUN FACT: Mindy and Christopher visited Bridget for Christmas 2006, and had an excellent time (including Disneyland and Slava's Snowshow). We learned some important things; for example, if you ever need a ride, in a car, to or from anywhere, we daresay you may want to skip asking Bridget to drive you...and ask her sometime about the performance she put on for us Christmas Eve. The critics are still raving about it.
Erik and Christopher met through Zak and share a common love of the game of poker. Erik works in the field of electrical engineering and lives in Denver, CO with his girlfriend Tracy (aka, Track-Y) - and their dog Attila and their cat Isis.
FUN FACT: Erik has been known to go "all in" when Christopher is going "all in" solely to spite him - even when he is pretty sure Christopher will win the hand. (It's quite entertaining to experience this event.)
Jeanette "Netty", along with the rest of her family (husband Rick, and daughters Lavina, Andrea, and Erica) became our dear friends and camping partners just a few months after we moved to Cheyenne. She and Christopher met while working at the University of Phoenix, Cheyenne campus. Jeanette recently completed her MBA (Woo!) and now works for the State of Wyoming, Department of Workforce Services as a program manager.
FUN FACT: We have adopted their family in many ways - for example, we celebrate Family Night each Wednesday at Venti's Italian Restaurant. Netty also possesses an EXTENSIVE knowledge of campfire songs, which no doubt includes many of YOUR favorites...such as, "The FEEE Song", and "There was a Rose".
Jami is Mindy's younger sister (by 2 years), who works at Marvin Windows factory in Warroad, MN, where she also lives with her soon-to-be-husband Mike, their 2 cats, and their new dog Ozzie. Mike and Jami recently bought their first home just outside Warroad (and just 2 miles from Canada!!).
FUN FACT: Jami once possessed 130+ Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle figurines. Amazing. She also loves animals and video games. Mindy MAY have pushed Jami off some couch cushions...and MAY be SOMEWHAT responsible for Jami breaking her arm as a result of said fall...but the jury is still out on that one.
Dusty is a 6-year-old salt and pepper miniature schnauzer who hails from Michigan. We adopted her from Dana's brother Jason last summer. Dusty likes doing tricks (such as playing dead when we say "Bang Bang!"), waiting at the kitchen door for her food, running around in the backyard, and stepping on her younger/smaller sister Chloe whenever she gets the chance.
Chloe is a 2-year-old salt and pepper miniature schnauzer who hails from Phoenix, Arizona. She likes long walks, squeaky toys, laying in front of the fireplace upside-down, and bones wrapped in dried chicken. She also likes to steal Dusty's bed whenever she gets the chance.
