Here's our story!
In 2003, I moved from fabulous Dallas to St. Louis. I was working for Blockbuster as the Store Manager in Rock Hill. Kevin was also working for Blockbuster and was the Store Manager at a store in North County. We were in the same District and met at our monthly Store Manager meetings.
We were both working for Blockbuster. Every year the company has what they call a "Fourth Quarter Kick-Off", where all the store managers in the region get together and have meetings and a huge party. In 2003, the Kick-Off was at Tan-Tar-A Resort at the Lake of the Ozarks. The second night, Kevin and I, along with some other people in our district, are in a bar having a few drinks. I apparently said some smart-ass comment to Kevin and he retorts back with a "you're a dumb bitch!" Needless to say after that we became inseperable! What a story for the family reunions, huh?
Kevin surprised me by taking me to Memphis for my the weekend of my 32nd birthday. Halfway there we hit a crazy snow storm that froze all the roads and caused trafic to almost stop. Our 5 hour drive took us almost 8 hours! We finally arrived in Memphis and went to our hotel - The Peabody. When he went to check in the front desk gave us a room upgrade and we ended up on the Presidential Floor. You had to use your room key in the elevator to get to the floor our room was on. It was amazing! We had our own concierge and a little dining room that had hor d'oeuvres all day and into the night. Friday we stayed in since the drive was miserable. Kevin had made reservations at Chez Phillipe - the French restaurant inside the Peabody - for Saturday night. Dinner was amazing, and the food was fabulous! After dessert we were sitting there talking and looking around at the other customers and taking in this beautiful restaurant when he told me he had another surprise. Kevin then proceeded to get down on one knee - as gracefully as he could since he was so nervous - and asked me to marry him. I of course said yes. After that we went and celebrated along Beale Street at Coyote Ugly and Patty O's.
