Accommodations and Transportation
As our wedding festivities are going to be held in the small town of Merrickville, Ontario, we are aware that many of our guests will require accommodations. Merrickville is approximately an hour from Ottawa (1hr 20 minutes from Orleans, 50 minutes from Barrhaven, 1hr from Kanata, 1hr from downtown Ottawa). This is a list of accommodations in Merrickville. We've included a couple of locations in Ottawa, for those willing to drive.
I would like to note that we have only reserved 10 rooms at the Baldachin, 20 rooms at the Howard Johnson and another 20 at the Best Western for our guests at this time.
Please note: For those that missed out on rooms at the Baldachin, but wish to party hardy, there are several taxi companies that serve the Merrickville area who will gladly get you to either the Best Western or the Howard Johnson.

The Baldachin Inn
NOTE: All rooms have been booked at the Baldachin as of February 6th 2010
This is the venue of the wedding. We have 11 rooms reserved for our guests. Please book your rooms by May 2010. The Baldachin has two junior suites with whirlpool and fireplace, two rooms with twin beds and six regular rooms with one queen bed. The Baldachin has both a beautiful dining room and a pub in which to dine and enjoy the company of family and friends.
Howard Johnson Kemptville
The Howard Johnson is located in Kemptville, approximately 20 minutes away from Merrickville. We have 20 rooms blocked off for our guests (10 doubles, 10 singles). Be sure when booking to state that you are with the Sutherland-de Gonzague wedding. This is a great option for those who don't mind driving just a bit at the end of the night, but don't want to head all the way back into Ottawa.
These rooms must be booked by May 26th.
Best Western Colonel by Inn
20 minutes from our venue, in the nearby town of Smith Falls, this Best Western is perfect for those just looking for hotel-like accommodations fairly close by. This Best Western is about an hour outside of downtown Ottawa. There are 20 rooms available for our guests, 15 of which are double beds, and 5 of which are Queens. Please book by May 26.
B&B At 142 Rideau
Minutes away from our venue, this Bed and Breakfast boasts a heated salt water pool, 3 lovely rooms (arguably, some of the nicest in area) and beautiful views of the train tracks (note: trains do go by, sometimes at night). No rooms have been blocked for our wedding, so please book early.
Millisle Bed and Breakfast
Minutes from our wedding venue, this victorian home turned Bed and Breakfast has 5 rooms, two with private bathrooms. No rooms have been reserved, so please book early.
Heritage House Bed and Breakfast
10 minutes away from our wedding venue, this is a beautiful four star bed and breakfast with a more country setting. This B&B boasts five bedrooms, some with private bathrooms. Again, no rooms reserved for our guests, so please book early if interested.
Acton House Bed and Breakfast
5 minutes outside of Merrickville, on country road 43, a beautiful country home on three acres, with two rooms available for guests. No rooms have been blocked off, so please book early
Aincroft House Bed and Breakfast
Minutes from our venue, this B&B has a large common space and three rooms available. No rooms have been blocked, so please book early.
Merrickville Village Bed and Breakfast
This cozy B&B is minutes away from the Baldachin and offers 2 bedrooms with a shared bathroom, as well as a pool. No rooms have been blocked, so please book early.
Wolford House Bed and Breakfast
This B&B was featured in the Best B&Bs to Stay in Ontario and is about 10 minutes from our venue. It has three large rooms with private bathrooms and an attached antique shoppe in the old barn. No rooms have been blocked, so please book early.
Monterey Inn
The Monterey Inn is located in the south west end of Ottawa, in Barrhaven. It is approximately 50 minutes away from the venue and 10 minutes away from the Ottawa International Airport. Affordable rooms, a near by Tim Horton's and incredible views of the Ottawa River make this a good choice for the thrifty guest. No reservations have been made for our guests, so be sure to book early.
Brookstreet Hotel
This beautiful hotel is perfect for those looking for something more luxurious in the Ottawa west area of Kanata. This hotel is an hour from our venue, however it makes up for that by being directly beside a golf course and by having its own spa and restaurant.
The Westin Hotel
This hotel is right in the center of downtown Ottawa. It is an hour away from our venue, however it is perfect for those who wish to stay in the heart of our nation's capital. It is attached to the Rideau Shopping Center, and is merely minute away from the By-Ward market, with its thousands of shops, restaurants, cafes and street vendors. It also has its own restaurant, Daly's. No reservations have been made for our guests, so please book early.
Days Inn Ottawa Airport
This Days Inn is an hour away from our venue, but may be ideal for the guest who wants to stay at an affordable hotel in Ottawa right next to the airport.
