Pat & Heather

The Wedding Blog

Heather has been blogging since 1999 in a variety of places, on a variety of topics. It only makes sense that she would want to document the wedding planning process and experience.

Welcome!

Hi everyone!  With our invitations going out soon, I expect more people to be popping by the webpage over the next few months. I bid you welcome and I hope that our page has proven informative and enjoyable for you :) I've been writing in this little blog for a year now, which is incredible to me. We are now less than 3 months away from the wedding itself and so much has been done. I've had to go through and delete some entries, to protect the surprise of the day. When planning, you...

Changes

Hi everyone, Though I'm not sure how many people actually read this thing, I felt it necessary to update those who do with the current state of affairs.  As most of you know, we've had to change the date of the wedding. This was done in the hopes that Mum will be well enough to truly enjoy herself on the big day. She, as you can imagine, is one of the most important people in my life and I really want her to have a ball at our wedding. Her oncologist recommended, with those goals in...

Unknown Territory and Conversation Topics

A quick break from your regularly scheduled programming: Bridezilla - I'm sure that all of us have heard the term before. We may have even used it in reference to someone we normally love and respect. In 2007, I was invited to 9 weddings. I was the Maid of Honour in one, a bridesmaid in another, the Sister in law in two. It was a very busy year. In none of these weddings would I have called the bride a Bridezilla .  As far as I could tell, most were amazing, sweet, considerate and...

Time to Think

Hi everyone! I have to say that it's been very hard not to post every day the past week. Not that I have lots of news, though I do have some. No, it's that I have an extreme amount of free time. Why, you ask? Well, as of yesterday, I have been diagnosed with a mild case of H1N1. Apparently I caught it this weekend while out partying on Halloween and started having symptoms on Monday. As a result, I've been hidding away from everyone at home, which means I have way too much free time on my...

Congrats!

I just wanted to announce that my honey just got himself a new job! Today, Pat was offered a position doing part time Tech Support work. We're both so happy and excited for him. He'll be working this job on top of his position at the hospital and while continuing his studies at Algonquin. Hopefully, come the new year, the position will be extended into something more permanent and full time :) So happy!

The ball is rolling!

Hi everyone! Well, I posted in the last entry that things were starting to get going now that we're less than a year away from the big day. What I didn't know then was how much things were going to explode all of a sudden! Remember that list I posted at the end of the last entry? Here's a reminder... -Book an officiant -Book a baker for our cake/cupcakes -Look in to a Day Of Coordinator -Dress shopping -Pick our menu -Find a hairdresser Since then, we have booked our officiant, booked two...

Priorities and an addition...

Pat and I, with our limited budget, have had to prioritize certain aspects of the wedding. We wanted to make sure that the things that were important to us were addressed first, and that they took priority in the budget. For us, that meant that our priorities have become: - A good venue that would hold both the ceremony and reception. Must have character and charm, and a great menu, must be close to accommodations. Check! We got all of that with the Baldachin , and within our budget too!...

Keep Moving Forward

Well, it's been a rollercoaster the last few months for Pat and I, which is why we've been a little quiet over here. First, lets get the bad out of the way: I've been unemployed for about a month now. I lost my job at the beginning of August, which has made planning a wedding very difficult, as you can imagine. Luckily, with the help of my Mum, we're able to keep moving forward with the hopes that a great opportunity will present itself soon and that we will able to pick up where we left...
