With every good engagement, there's a unique proposal story that goes along with it. I hope you enjoy ours! :)
The time was 2:30am on March 27th, 2009.
The alarm sounded.
Had Patrick really slept?
No.
How could anyone sleep with the thought of what was soon to come?
He did his morning routine, as He normally would, for work. Only, this time, it was an hour early...
-3:30am-
Patrick pulled up to the destination. He spent 20 minutes in his car listening to "their favorite songs."
"Shhh, Patrick! Turn down that music," He whispered to himself.
Gently, Patrick opened the car door and gathered the supplies.
Quietly walking, he finally reached the front door...
-4:30am-
Patrick arrived at work.
He had achieved his goal.
But what if he didn't?
Sipping on his coffee, Patrick nervously sent a text; then turned off his phone...
-6:30am-
"Beep, Beep, Beep!"
Her alarm had sounded.
Emily was awake.
Nothing out of the ordinary this morning, or so it seemed.
She made coffee.
She ate her banana.
She read her Bible.
She went online.
It was her normal routine.
-7:00am-
Time to unplug the charged cellphone.
Much to her surprise, there was a text message waiting for her.
It was from 4:30am.
It was from her love. :)
"Go outside," said the early morning message.
"That's kind of weird and creepy," Emily thought.
Out of love and trust for her boyfriend, she went outside.
Much to her surprise was something special waiting on her front doorstep.
It was the first photo taken of her and Patrick, her love, joined with her favorite flowers, Hydrangeas, and a single rose placed on top of an envelope reading "Emily."
She brought everything inside and opened the envelope.
She read through the "sweet nothings" and was reminded of Patrick's commitment and love for her. The message also promised a "knock at the front door at 2:15pm."
It followed with "Don't hesitate to answer the door, and don't bother calling me because my phone will be off."
She hesitated to finish the rest of the short note.
"Hmmmm," She wondered.
She looked at her beautiful display that was made for her by Patrick, so early that morning, and was ready to begin her unsuspected journey. This was only after reading the final PS of the note:
"Take Me With You.."
-11:30am-
Patrick turned on his phone.
Text message, after text message, after missed phone calls continued to pop up.
They were all from Emily.
"That was so sweet! :) What's going on though?"
"What do I wear?"
"Gosh, you must have been here early!"
Patrick chuckled.
"Didn't I say that I was not going to respond?" He said to himself.
-2:10pm-
"Knock. Knock."
Emily heard the front door, but wasn't yet ready. The note said 2:15pm, not 2:10pm.
"Ugh," Emily proclaimed.
Gathering everything last minute, she answered the front door.
A man wearing a suit with a black hat was smiling back at Emily.
"Hello Emily, my name is Anthony."
-"..Hi Anthony."
"Emily, please look outside."
Emily stepped outside and looked down the driveway.
Sitting in front of her driveway was a limo.
Anthony was the limo driver.
"Wow, Patrick is crazy," Emily proclaimed.
"..Your ride awaits!" Anthony said with affirmation.
Emily was escorted through the door of the limo.
She heard a familiar tune.
Much to her surprise, all of the tunes were "their favorite songs."
"Aww."
Looking around the limo, she spotted a single rose laying on top of an envelope; again with the title "Emily."
She opened the envelope.
Again, there were "sweet nothings." Emily was, again, reaffirmed of the love Patrick had for her.
She was put to ease that He had everything under control but was anxious to find out where she was going.
Especially since the noted declared "Don't even think about asking the driver where you're going; you will soon find out. Don't worry, because I love you. :)"
With the special playlist playing in the background, Emily read the p.s. on the 2nd note:
"I Will Never Let You Down.."
Anthony made his way to the destination.
-2:30pm-
Standing in the beautiful sunshine, reality hit Patrick.
He was nervous.
He was anxious.
The final touches had been made, so nothing more could be done.
He walked up the stairs and waited.
-2:50pm-
Patrick looked down the street.
A man was riding his bike.
A women was walking her dog.
"Ahh, come on now!" He thought.
He closed his eyes and prayed.
After a short while, Patrick opened his eyes.
The limo was down the street.
The limo was down the street.
The limo was down the street!
"The limo is down the street!" He proclaimed.
Nervously, Patrick walked forward as the limo approached him.
Anthony got out and noticed the tension on Patrick's face.
He ran around the side of the limo and opened the back door.
Immediately, Patrick's tension was turned into relief.
His nervousness was turned into excitement.
His fear had been turned to love.
It was her.
His heart jumped with joy.
It was her.
"She is so beautiful." He whispered.
It was her.
Nothing else in the world mattered.
The moment after Patrick and Emily laid eyes on each other, they met each other with a hug.
Patrick turned Emily around to discover the beauty of the view.
They were on "top of the world." They had the perfect view of the San Francisco Bay with the beautiful water, boats and the Golden Gate Bridge.
They walked down the "Lyon Street Steps" together; enjoying the views of, not only the bay, but the mansions along side of them.
Patrick gripped Emily's hand tighter and tighter, and constantly glanced over at her and smiled.
They exchanged their love through their various words, as they slowly walked down the steps.
Finally, the stairs had ended and they were brought to a beautiful garden.
They walked around, and Emily had her assumptions as to what would happen next.
Was she right?
After walking around the garden, Emily spotted what Patrick had prepared.
They walked over to the corner, and awaiting Emily was a large artsy, framed photo of the two of them with a quote.
Again, there was also a single rose resting on top of an envelope; simply titled, "Emily."
Sweet nothings filled the final note.
She was eased to read "Didn't I tell you that all would work out?" Didn't I tell you that I love you?"
She was so happy.
The note told her to "look up to your love, for there is still one more surprise that has yet to be."
Before looking up, she read the final P.S.:
"I Will Love You Now And Forever!"
She looked over at the quote on the picture frame.
It read:
"Take Me With You. I Will Never Let You Down. I Will Love You Now And Forever!"
The quote had been from their favorite song.
She put all the P.S.'s together from each note and realized it was the same as the quote on the picture frame. She laughed. She smiled.
She looked at Patrick..
Patrick was at a loss for words. All that he had practiced had been forgotten.
One look in her eyes made him stumble.
"Gosh, I love you," started the long love proclamation to Emily.
Tears of joy were exchanged.
Laughter.
Smiles.
Hugs.
And finally..
"I will love you now and forever..
..Will you marry me?"
-"YES!"
Emily's assumptions were right!
They stood up and gave each other a kiss.
They loved each other so much.
They love each other so much.
Patrick and Emily will always love each other so much.
They walked around the garden and were filled with joy.
"We are getting married!" they proclaimed.
Dave popped out of the bushes with his camera and and caught everything with pictures.
After a little while, Anthony picked Patrick and Emily up at the bottom of the stairs and drove them to the Cheesecake Factory, and then to their families house to celebrate what was soon to be the start of a long marriage together!
