Many of our guests will be experiencing an Indian wedding for the first time. Do NOT be afraid. Here are some tips to keep up with the crowd:
1. Most Indian weddings are NOT on time but we expect ours to be. Please arrive on time.
2. We love and adore the kids in our family. We have arranged for a Kids Activity Room so that the kids can be kids and the parents can sit back and enjoy the event.
3. The groom will enter the wedding via the Baraat processional which starts outdoors. There will be no live animals (horse, elephant etc.), but there will be music, dancing and a show you will never forget! He is then welcomed by the Mother of the Bride for he and his entourage to enter the wedding hall.
4. The Bride's entrance is made down the red carpet to the mandap after the groom performs a short ceremony.
5. Indian weddings can be lengthy due to the many traditions and ceremonial aspects. Although our ceremony will be traditional in nature, we plan to keep it within a reasonable time for everyone to enjoy.
6. We know its hard to keep TOTALLY silent during the lengthy ceremony (~1.5-2hrs), so please do not be offended if people talk quietly. However, we do ask everyone to flashback to 1st grade and use "12 inch" voices as we want the focus to be on the wedding ceremony.
7. There's no difference in the Cocktail Hour and Reception, except that we expect you to have MORE fun at ours then any other wedding you've been to!
8. Please do not feel offended by the terms "no boxed gifts" - this is normal for an indian wedding. We currently have two full residences!
