Our Story

About Rachel

About Rachel

Rachel loves eating desserts, especially the ones that are chocolate, strawberry or both. As a child of Chattanooga, Tennessee, Rachel moved to Atlanta, became fluent in French, and spent some time abroad. She has a Bachelor of Arts in French from Oglethorpe University. In addition to reading and painting her finger nails, Rachel loves children and looks forward to having a family of her own in the future!

About Brian

About Brian

Brian is the kind of guy who is shy in public, but he also can come up with the best jokes when he's in a crowd. As a Florida native, when it's warm outside it's hard to keep him off his bicycle, but he still gets very excited when it snows. Brian has a Bachelor's in Science in Plant Pathology from the University of Florida, in addition to his culinary degree from the French Culinary Institute in New York. He's a pizza-making machine, serving up a variety of doughs from scratch and perpetually experimenting with new and different recipes!

How We Met

How We Met

Brian and Rachel met at the Four Seasons Hotel in Atlanta. Brian made the wonderful pastries and Rachel loved to eat the wonderful pastries, so there was chemistry from the beginning!

During one of our earliest conversations a nervous Brian asked Rachel if she would like to go out some time. He said that she could dress up as Sailor Girl and he could be 3-D Man :)

After living through a tornado together, Rachel and Brian have now moved to Lake Oconee, Geogia and are now both employed at the Ritz Carlton at Reynolds Plantation in Greensboro. Brian is currently working as the Assistant Executive Pastry Chef, and Rachel is working at the Front Desk and pursuing a career in Special Events.

WHEN WE GOT ENGAGED

January 14, 2009

Brian and I went on a 3-day hiking trip to Amicalola Falls in Dawsonville, GA. The first day we hiked 4.7 miles to the Len Foote Inn, which is a green energy, Eco-Inn that's in the middle of the woods, and is only accessible by foot. On the second day, we did an 8 mile hike and that night it started snowing outside. Lying in bed in our cabin, we were snuggling and trying to keep warm, when Brian pulled out a ring box from underneath the pillow and said, "Rachel Denise Mcknight, I would like to spend the rest of my life with you. Will you marry me?" And of course I said, "YES!"
