How we met...

Raina and Wasa first met at Dr. Freddie Thomas Learning Center. Wasa was student teaching and Raina happened to be his neighbor. They had only exchanged greetings in the beginning of the spring semester but after their eyes connected at an NCLB function,(how ironic)Wasa decided to ask her out. He had only a few weeks left before his student teaching was over, so it was now or never he thought...Wasa built up enough courage the next day and asked Raina out...she said NO. However, she suggested he accompany her to a flamenco dance recital the following day and he happily accepted. The rest is blissful history.

The Proposal

We went for our customary 6:30am coffee at Monroe Ave Starbucks on Tuesday March 11th before work. When we were walking to my car, he asked me, "How much do you love me?" to which I replied "Tons, you know I love you so much, etc." Then as I sat in my car, he got down on one knee and a black box materialized. I was in such shock I thought he was joking. I asked him if he was serious and he pointed out he would not be kneeling in the middle of the street with an engagement ring if he wasn't serious. I was dumbfounded and speechless but somehow managed to say yes! I got out of the car and immediately began jumping up and down and screaming. An old man passed by us and I screamed at him "I just got engaged!!!!" He looked horrified and ran away. I couldn't stop hugging and kissing Wasa and am still on cloud nine and so happy about starting our lives together.
