This is the group of people that have been there through thick or thin. And we could not imagine celebrating our wedding without them.
Marin is my older sister. I could never in a million years imagine getting married with someone other than my sister right by my side. Marin has always been there for me when I needed her. Even when she disagrees with me, I know she will support me regardless.
She has already helped me out with a lot of ideas for the wedding. I cannot wait to help her in return!
Collin is the baby of the family, but you would never know it. He is very mature and level headed. But he also knows when he needs to take a break and have fun.
Collin is actually going to get ordained to marry us. We decided we would rather have someone close to us marry us, and I thought right away that Collin would be perfect for the job. I really wanted him to be a part of the wedding party, so this seemed like a perfect idea. I just wish I could have actually seen his face when I asked him to get ordained!
Although all of my friends have always looked out for me no matter what, and they are all considered like brothers to me, it goes without saying that Billy and I have similar personalities and hang out the most. He's laid back and conservative but isn't afraid to hang out and have fun in a crowd. I've known him since being in 8th grade and grew up from him just a few streets down from my house. Everyday was a day of basketball after school, and from there we just became the best of friends.
I have known Katie since kindergarten, I think. We became really good friends in 5th grade in Ms. Mullins class. We had a very unique friendship, but over the years we have managed to get through it all and are better friends because of it.
Now that we are adults, we have a much deeper friendship. We do not have the time to talk to each other daily. Or even sometimes weekly. That is why the times we do talk are so much more important. I asked Katie to be in the wedding because we have been with each other through thick and thin. I know she is a person I can always rely on!
Dajuan is by far the most outgoing of my friends and always knows how to lighten up a crowd or steal the show when called upon. I've known him for about as long as I've known Billy and our friendship has been second to none. When times are rough, he's always willing to lend that helping hand. Like Billy, Dajuan was involved in our neighborhood basketball games since I was in the 8th grade. Although I don't get to see much of him now, because he works 60 hours a week, I still value the time that we spend together when we hang out.
Shay and I met in July on theknot.com. We instantly hit it off as friends. One night we decided it would be fun to double. Randy and I met up with Shay and her now husband Nick, at no other than Old Chicago. Nick and Randy also hit it off as friends. Randy was actually one of the groomsmen in Nick and Shay's wedding.
I asked Shay to be in the wedding because for the past few months since we have become friends, she has always been there for me. She has been through a lot lately, but even so, she always made time for me and all her other friends. Shay and I have only known each other a short time, but I know for sure this will be a life long friendship.
Drew is and always will be what I consider Billy and Dajuan: a brother. I met Drew in 1999 through Billy and Dajuan. In fact, we met by playing none other than basketball at the park. Since then, our friendship has grown despite our political differences and not always seeing eye to eye. But in the end, we have always looked out for each other. If I've ever needed to talk to someone about the hardships of life or just a helping hand to move some furniture, I could always count on Drew.
Mandy is my (Randy's) older sister whom I don't get to see nearly as much as I'd like. She is always on the go, whether it's taking a road trip to Alabama to see her in-laws or traveling halfway around the world to Eastern Europe, I always look forward to the time when we get together. Our relationship didn't mature until I was in college at UofL. To this day, I know I can always refer to Mandy for good advice on just about anything.
Jon became a part of my family in 2004 when he married my sister, Mandy. We share the same interests as far as sports are concerned and we try to make every effort to attend a UofL football or basketball game. It was a great feeling to know that I finally had a brother in the family!
Joey and Josh are Katie's two sons. At the time of the wedding, they will be 6 and 2! These two boys are the sweetest boys I have ever met. Joey and I have a pretty close relationship, and hopefully as Josh gets older, we will be just as close.
Joey and Josh are like my own little nephews.
We decided to have the boys be our ringbearers because they are an extension of my bond with Katie. They are a part of her, therefore they are a part of me! Besides, they are going to look so handsome in their little tuxedos walking down the aisle!!
