We're going to throw a wedding party on 28 December 2008. That much we know. A plan that started from a proposal, went to engagement/pre-wedding party, to a full blown wedding party. Why so? I'll write more about it later.
Back to the story of wedding gown, we went to Allure Charix at Tanjong Pagar yesterday. The gowns were nice. We like a couple of them. And they're cheaper than most bridal shops! The gowns range from $699 to $899, and you can get 15% discount if you use a DBS/POSB credit card. So that's the second shop that we'd seen. At night we went to this hdb house who put ads on the internet about cheap wedding gowns (all costs around $328). We went into a small house with a LOT of people in it. Old...
Who doesn't dread wedding gown? A piece of clothing cost hundreds or even thousands of dollars for one time wear on one night? And so we went to see wedding gowns yesterday with cautions. The one shop that we went, I got to try 4 gowns, and got to like 1. They have the 2nd hand one that we can buy off-the-rack, cost $350. New one costs around $1500. Rent one costs around $800. I'm planning to buy, because I can use it again later in Australia for the registration/church wedding. That one...
Apparently after hearing that we wanted to apply the black and red dress code and hire a DJ, my mom proposed a separate lunch for the oldies, while the young ones could go nuts at night. If I get a dollar everytime she mentioned the word 'oldies'... (and that's just for yesterday!) After 10 minutes of contemplation with Rendy, we've decided that, hell no, we don't want a separate lunch and dinner party. That would mess up the whole order of things we've been planning. And what's fun with...
I'm lucky to have my grandma of 84 years old to be alive, healthy, and available for our wedding. Unfortunately, that also means good date counting and all the details from old wives' tales that need to be done (The ordeal we have to go through just to be accepted by family members!). At the end, the date had to be moved from 13 December to 28 December, because apparently the former is bad day for us, while the latter is great. After all the talk between my mom, my grandma, my dad, and one of...
*** I wrote the post below and realized that many people that don't know our story can be very confused. In short, my family migrated to Australia years ago. I've been in Singapore for 2 years plus. Rendy has always been in Jakarta, but just came to Singapore about 1.5 month ago. My mom, my youngest brother, and Rendy's family are in Jakarta. My dad is in Sydney, Australia. My middle brother is in KL, Malaysia. Why it came to be this way is a long story in itself. But it's not about that...
