New Haven Activities

If you've not been to New Haven before - especially if you happen to be from a certain NJ university that specializes in indoctrinating people on what a horrible place the city is - you just might be in for a pleasant surprise...

Indoor Activities

If it's a rainy day, we'd suggest a visit to one of Yale's three museums:
The Peabody Museum has a great collection of stuff that Yale profs pilfered from the rest of the world before that became unfashionable. Specifically, a great collection of dinosaur bones (to rival New York's natural history museum or Chicago's Field museum) and about half of Machu Picchu (not always on display).

The Museum of British Art and the Yale Art Gallery are about what you'd expect based on their names. Kuddos to them both for catering to cheapskates (it's free).

Outdoor Activities

If you'd like to get outside for a walk, we'd recommend exploring either East Rock or West Rock park. Each has a large cliff giving a great view of the city; East Rock park has a slightly better view and is easier to find (just go to the north on Orange St from the church until the street ends); West Rock has better hiking (if you want to go for a long run, it's the place to go). The entrence is from Winterspring Rd; inside the park take the right fork of the road for a long walk/run and the left branch for a view of the city.

East Rock Park is at the intersection of Orange St and Cold Spring; West Rock park is at the intersection of Baldwin Dr and Wintergreen Ave.
