Dana is Laura’s only sister. There is a very strong bond between these two ladies and when Laura had to pick her number one, go-to bridesmaid, there was no hesitation. Dana graduated from ODU and continued at Regent University to obtain her Master’s in Reading. Currently, Dana is a Reading Recovery teacher; however, she will return to the classroom during the 2010-1011 school year. She will teach 1st grade at the same school as Laura. Dana lives for the summer and can typically be found poolside or at the beach. Dana is a proud mother of two ...or three if you include her husband!
Debbie is Laura’s sister-in-law who lives in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho with Laura’s brother David. Debbie has recently returned to school, where she is working to become a nurse. Prior to her interest in nursing, she taught school on an Indian reservation for several years. David and Debbie recently celebrated the birth of their first child, Riley Neal, March 12, 2010.
Ali and Laura first met at Lynchburg College. Even after Ali transferred schools, she and Laura continued to be close friends as evidenced by their phone bills. Ali is from Owego, New York, but is currently living in Philadelphia. She currently works as a Senior Associate with Korn Ferry International. Ali and her fiancé, Andy, will be getting married June 25, 2011.
Shylah and Laura met at Lynchburg College and lived together for two years. After graduation, Shylah kindly adopted Laura's college cat, Ernie. She loves animals, the beach, the Boston Red Sox, and a nice glass of wine with friends. Currently, Shylah lives in Boston, Massachusetts and is a Research Associate in Drug Safety Evaluation for Millennium Pharmaceuticals.
Paige and Laura met at Lynchburg College. They played field hockey together for four years and lived together for two. Paige is from Goshen, Connecticut, but moved to Worcester, Massachusetts after college. Like Laura, Paige is also working on her Master’s in Special Education. Paige and her fiancé, Joe, will be getting married on September 25, 2010.
Sarah and Laura teach together at Diamond Springs Elementary. In addition to being workout buddies, they teach children’s swim lessons together during the summer. More importantly, Sarah played matchmaker for Laura and Robert. She set them up on their first date and the rest is history.
Shelby is Robert's younger sister. Laura is very excited to be gaining such a wonderful and fun sister-in-law. Shelby is a lifelong resident of Virginia Beach and is employed by Structural Mechanical, Inc. where she is a key member of the office management team. She enjoys every dimension of shopping and is considered by many as a professional bargain hunter.
Courtney is Laura's niece. She is a 10 year old fourth grader who enjoys soccer, swimming, field hockey and reading. When she isn’t in class or on the field, she is spending time with her new Maltese puppies, Duke and Rosie. Second only to her energetic and friendly personality is her enthusiasm for being part of the wedding.
Mark and Robert met in 7th grade shop class where they shared a work bench crafting CO² powered race cars. While the winner of the big race has been disputed by those two, their close friendship ever since has not. Mark is a 2006 Georgetown graduate with a degree in International Politics. He lives in Washington, D.C. where he works for the U.S. State Department and will be leaving shortly after the wedding for a position in Moscow at the U.S. Embassy.
Travis is a Suffolk native and 2003 graduate of Lakeland High School. Robert and Travis met as rookies during the fire academy where he is also a Firefighter/ EMT for the city of Chesapeake. Soon after graduation, they came up with the idea for Pool Medics where they have been business partners for three years. Travis enjoys working out, boating, and taking vacations. Much like the warnings on the back of our fire trucks, it is suggested that all single women at the wedding KEEP BACK 500 FEET!
Greg and Robert met in the beginning of their senior year of high school in the offices of Baymark Construction as they filled out job applications for the soon-to-open Signature at West Neck Golf Club. They went on to become freshman roommates at Campbell University. Having had enough of North Carolina, they both transferred to Old Dominion University for their second year and continued living together in Virginia Beach. Greg is a 2006 graduate of Old Dominion University and received his MBA from Mississippi State in 2009. He now works as a Contract Specialist for the Department of Defense.
Meeting in 2000 while working at Cypress Point Country Club, Matt and Robert spent most of their time working or playing golf together. They continued working together at the Signature at West Neck Golf Club upon it’s opening in 2001 and became roommates at the infamous Baltic Avenue beach house in 2004. They also made famous the 55th Street beach house before buying the Duffy Drive condo together in 2008. In addition to the real-estate transactions, Matt and Robert have had countless good times as friends, coworkers, and roommates over the past decade. Matt is a 2006 graduate of Old Dominion University and is currently working on his MBA at William & Mary.
Married to the Matron of Honor and father of Kyle and Courtney, Jarvis is Laura’s beloved brother-in-law. As a Sergeant in the Virginia Beach Police Department, Jarvis and Robert share an interest in public safety. Together, they inadvertently provide for the safest possible family functions. Jarvis enjoys coaching soccer, watching soccer, and coaching more soccer. After 14 years of marriage, Jarvis is especially excited to have some relief from Robert in performance of son-in-law duties.
Kyle is Laura’s oldest nephew. He is a high school sophomore who enjoys sports, hanging out with friends, and anything else that involves having fun. Kyle started his first job as a bus boy at Margherita's Cafe. He started his second job manning the cash register and supervising the cleanliness at OYO Organic Yogurt in May.
David is Laura’s oldest brother. David lives in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho where he is a Geographic Information Systems manager for Kootenai County. He graduated from Radford University with a degree in physical sciences and geography. He enjoys camping, fishing, skiing, and hiking to name a few. Robert and Laura can’t wait to visit him out West to explore the outdoors and spend time with their newest nephew, Riley Neal Christianson.
Eric is Laura’s brother. He lives in Hoboken, New Jersey where he works for Origin Digital as the Vice President of Finance. He graduated from Virginia Tech with an accounting degree. Eric has earned the family nickname “cruise director” for always organizing fun-filled family events and as a semi-professional New York City tour guide for all family visiting him up North. Growing up as Laura’s sounding board, Robert is sure to turn to him for advice in his married future.
