This is the story of our journey...
from a couple merely in love,
to a couple that will be spending the rest of their lives together.
The story of how we got together is pure history and sweet memories,
This story of ours that you're viewing
is the story of our preparation for our wedding day.... =)
Well well......the big day is only a month away!! Seems almost scary!! haha....
We've completed the shoot for our MTV, selected the photos for the album, which was an insane task, by the way!! 80 shots out of 672....don't know how we managed!!
Gonna collect our wedding bands on the 22nd November...invites are already out, so we will just be waiting to get the RSVP done...
Wedding favours still need to be prepared, as well as details for the Church reception and the Dinner.....of course, there's the itnerary to plan too....
Other than that, we're pretty much more or less settled!!!
Do continue to keep us in your prayers....This last lap will be what we believe is the most trying period..... =)
Will be taking the videoshoot of how we met this coming Monday 29/10/2007.... we can't wait!!
Went to try on our wedding bands yesterday, and we think it's coming along fine. Will be paying for our honeymoon tickets already, and the invitations are in the process of printing.
Still have yet to confirm the wedding favours or the caterer for the church reception...hope all these will get done fast.....
We only have the wedding photos to select, as well as some details here and there with regard to the day itself....everything seems to be going along fine, but we definitely still need your prayers!!
Just had our photoshoot done yesterday...it was a rather long process, was taking photos from 1000hrs - 1930hrs....super long day, and one that was very tiring...but we really have to thank God for the wonderful and beautiful weather....pity that we didn't manage to capture any sunsets though....... However, went to 2 outdoor locations, lesser than what we expected, but yet, Darling and me know that the photos are gonna come out beautiful!!
Can't wait till Andrew asks us to pick the photos....till then, the next big thing would be the Videoshoot on the 29th.....
still waiting for the wedding bands to be completed, as well as for finalization of the wedding favours. Will be sending the invitations for printing soon..... hope all will go well...
Continue to pray for us!!!! =D
Well well, another update....
Met up with Jonathan from Wedding Acts about the decor, and he's still in the process of doing up the layout and all, would be meeting him in 2 weeks time...The favours are also in the process of being sourced out... =)
The rings are gonna be done by La Ronde jewellers, a shop in Lucky Plaza, and the guy doing it for us is also Catholic, so, it's really great... =)
Our photoshoot and MTV shoot dates are confirmed, and both will be done in October.
The wedding mass has been shifted to the main church, with no thanks to my dad's massive guestlist.....and thus, the time has also changed to 11.30 am....
we're still in the process of our Lindy hop classes, something we both really enjoy... and well, i guess that other than all these, there's really nothing much left... so...we'll just take each day as it comes....
please keep us in your prayers, especially for the financial side and spiritual side of this beautiful day to come!! =D
Well...it's been another long wait since our last update.
Anyway, we have confirmed our cake with Canele. Although my trusted friend and mentor, Furrene would not be there by then, I guess that Canele still won us over because Chef would uphold his cake's quality no matter what, especially since I was once a staff there........
The cake would be a tiered 8-kg violet cake with raspberry marmalade and violet buttercream, and it would be covered in white icing, with white lace icing around that has been dusted in pearl powder...... a very classic and unique look... =)We'll probably place a Precious Moments Figurine on top, and scatter flower petals in our colour theme around.........
Did my first fitting for my gown, and everything seems to be turning out just fine......we're also midway through our Lindy Hop classes for the dinner....... The wedding Mass has been changed to 10am, and well, the design for the invites are out. Our wedding planner is also helping us to finalise our wedding favours....
I guess there's only the guestlist to confirm, decor to be clearer, shoes and rings to be bought, and the caterer for the lunch reception to be found. Other than that....everything is more or less in place......
Continue to keep us in your prayers as we move into the final stages of planning!!!
YAY....after goodness knows how many months, our wedding venue has finally been decided upon. Darling has just faxed our confirmation contract over. And the selected "winner" is SAF Yacht club (Changi)...
Ultimately, I guess what won it for them was.....firstly, the food is beyond what I'd expected. It was not bad....really.......and secondly, as mentioned before, we LOVE the honeymoon suite.....and last but not the least, the ballroom itself faces the sea, so we're safe from all of Nature's fury, yet still be able to gape at her beauty........
I guess that it's also relatively cheap, and the banquet manager was very willing to please, giving in to all my whims and fancies....=p of course, I had to be a "little girl" so that he could give in to us, and we ended up with 5 courses more than the original...hehe......with additional charges of course! but, ya.... he was really nice and all, and I guess darling was won over by everything.
After all, he'd been really insistent on us sticking to them from the beginning, even when they seemed really wrong, and took ages just to get back to us. I just hope that even after we've signed the contract, they'll still be attentive....you knowo how this people can be sometimes!!!
As I've been going on and on about it, I still love their slogan
A Wedding is a Day, A Marriage is a Lifetime.
How true it is. We often spend so much time focusing on the tiniest details of everything to be done for the wedding that we often neglect to focus on ourselves, on our partner, and of course, on improving and strengthening our relationship with the person that we're gonna spend the rest of our lives with.
Taking a weekend away, running away from all the distractions of life, and actually taking time to rediscover ourselves, who we really are, finding out even more about our partner, about our goals and wants, needs and desires in life, and touching on all the sensitive issues, i.e. parents, religion, money, sex. Yes...even sex and family planning.... but it was really beneficial, coz there was nothing else around to disrupt our discussion, or for us to run away to. So with nothing to disturb us, we could really think and focus on the issues at hand, as well as spend time discussing our thoughts with our partners, and resolving differences, finding common ground.
Much as it's a necessity for any couple who wants to get married in Church to actually attend this course, I guess that most of the couples did benefit from this weekend. Of course, whether we put what we've learnt to good use is another factor....and only if we do so can we actually say that this weekend has truly been helpful in our lives.
We don't regret having gone for this course, and truly, we would actually have chosen to stay on for more days if it was allowed!! haha....but of course, there was the tiring part, where it really was like sitting for a 3-day long exam coz it was so much thinking and writing and listening......but all that serves to be a memory, and in a way, written proof!! =)
Oh well, shan't say more, in case I spoil the suspense for future couples who have to take on this course!!! =)
Yes, we are going to take up dance classes, to show off on our wedding night....haha....
We will probably be taking classes with Angela and Sheena.....and most likely from Jitterbugs...partly coz of recommendation from an old friend, and also coz they are nearest..... What type, we still don't know.....I feel like taking Lindy Hop with Darling, whilst Sheena and Angela wants to take up Salsa.....We're still in the midst of deciding.....
Darling and me have bought the MooveMedia cows by ComfortDelgro to use as part of our wedding decor, as well as for our wedding photoshoot!! hehe... am gonna collect them already!!!! The sample photos of both of them can be found in our photo gallery...
anyway, yup, we went to SAFYC (Changi) to take a look at the location...it's super near as compared to ALL the other locations that we have been considering....as for the facilities of the place, it's super new, and well, the ballroom is much bigger than RSYC...the honeymoon suite is also gorgeous....so...it's really beautiful......at our next mtg, gonna take a better look at the package they offer as well as the contract...if they're easy to talk to, and the food is pleasant, I think we're very certain to take the place.......
Have finally decided on Silhouette after much hemming and hawing....haha...though we already knew that this was the place right from the start, I guess the both of us just wanted to make sure that we were not paying too much...and after visiting a couple of bridal boutiques and all, I guess we knew that this was definitely the place for us...... Minda's gonna be my designer, and am gonna have a nice structured gown for my church wedding, and she's planning to do a BRIGHT yellow gown for my evening!!! Am gonna do the designing soon, and I simply cannot wait!!!!
Yep yep....we've decided on Moomedia...though I love Tucky....but I guess what's more important is how darling interacts with the photographer...and because he can connect so quickly and so well with Andrew, the photographer at Moomedia, I guess that's why we decided on him. Though he's a little pricey, but for the fact that I know Darling will be himself when taking the photos, and be comfortable when working with him, I guess the reasons are more than sufficient.
Anyway, RSYC has been booked by another couple, but because I love their package so much, have asked Maria to help us find out if it is possible that we take their ballroom...if not...sighz....I guess we will go back to Galley by the Straits....pls pray for us on this part.....really need to find a good place that we wouldn't regret upon!!!!
We're still deciding on bridal boutiques....don't really wanna make a decision so quickly.....so yup...that's all for now!
YEP...we've decided on a church venue...have just set down the deposit.....We've decided on Holy Trinity...coz..after all, I guess, at the end of the day, convenience beats beauty! And...on a day as important as that, i guess we'd need all the help we can get..... We've also got a date for Engaged Encounter...gonna be going for it in June....
Right now, just waiting for the vendors to get back to Maria so that she can update us....hmm...it's only less than 10 months away.....so near yet so far...i just hope everything can be settled in time!!!
Well well, as you can see from our new page, Wedding plans, these are the vendors that we are keeping in mind right now....it seems like God is guiding us in the right direction......coz we are finding new locations and places just before we actually make up our mind....maybe he's telling us that there's something better out there.....hmmm...the only worry now is about money..but i guess that that problem is on every wedding couple's mind! oh well, once we decide on another location, shall then update again!
Yes....it's a really really long time since our last official update. And it's all thanks to Mandai Orchid Garden that we so so delayed. Can you believe that in the time that we started sourcing them until now, they have changed like 3 F&B managers? That just made us feel that they were so unreliable...and it just worried us terribly....
Even Maria was unsure about them...so we told her to go ahead to start looking for other venues. Right now, we have 3 more venues in consideration...
1. GardenAsia, a similar themed place to Mandai Orchid Garden. But they seem far more well equipped, and better prepared for a wedding. However, they are a little pricey.
2. Sapphire Hall. Not a bad place, price is considerable...however, due to the date of our wedding, it is relatively scary as it is the monsoon season...hence, being near the sea may be a little scary! haha...also, transportation may be a little problem....
3. Galley By The Straits. It's a restaurant located at the Sembawang SAF Yacht Club. It's super nice....and...i guess if the price quotation given is okay, and the renovation they propose to do so that they'll be better equipped for the monsoon season will be completed by our wedding date, then I think it is likely to be there...but everything is still being checked out and considered...
of course, we're also starting to source out for bridal salons. Right now, it's down to Golden Horse, Silhouette, Wedding Present, and Amanda Lee. We'll take a day to go and see how things are at these places before deciding too...once these things are done....all the smaller details will slowly fall into place.....
hmmm...tonnes to be done....it's quite scary since it's already Feb!!!
We'll be going for our Engaged Encounter in June....and well, it's almost time to start deciding on our Church too! Will probably get Luke to ask Miss Clarity Cafe to do one of our buffets.....
Much more updates will be coming up fast and soon, so do look out for them!!!
it's our 4th year anniversary today...23rd December....so happy, and well, it's the last one before we're officially married!! haha.... oh well, just a small update, plans for our wedding have not changed much....Maria is trying to source out the best prices for the venue before we actually confirm anything....and once that is done, we will then confirm the bridal shop and the photography...so yup....shall update again soon....
Yes...another update...after...forever?? Anyway, ya, we have decided to get ourselves a wedding planner coz after joining Legion again, we now have absolutely not much time for ourselves and our families, much less time to do our wedding sourcing. Whilst we previously believed only in ourselves to do everything, we realise that we really do not have the expertise and the knowledge to find out all that we really want, and at the same time be assured that we are, in fact, getting a good deal!
so ya, We just hired our wedding planner, Maria Lau from Wedding Acts. She seems really nice, and we took to her almost immediately. We feel really comfortable with her, and yup, we're paying about $3100+...not bad, since she's gonna start planning for us from the moment we engage her services.
Whilst we obviously could use the money for other things, but i guess that in the end, it will all work out. After all, she knows far more than we do, and they can definitely get better deals for us because it's what they do....
so yup...that's our latest update..for now!
It's been a long time since we last updated this website, purely because we've been so busy with so many other things now that we're back to being so involved in church once again. Of course, Robin's 21st birthday is also coming up, so there's so many things to plan!!
anyway, We're very likely to be using Mandai Orchid Garden for our wedding dinner next year, purely because it's a very beautiful, undiscovered place for wedding..it's so raw, so uncommercialised, and really nice...it's out of the way, we know, but for the raw beauty in the entire place, we really don't mind... coz after all, we want something that's really cosy, simple, yet different.... so yup, hopefully, those of you who'll be coming next year won't find this location too far!! haha...
For those of you who are visitng this site for the second time, you'd have realised that we took off the ROM countdown..that's purely because we are deciding not to have it this year, but to have the solemnization together during the church ceremony, thus saving us some money at the "reception" which would have been done after the ROM...so yup, dear friends, you'd have to wait till next year then!!
Sighz, actually it's quite a long story...I'd been bugging Robin abt when he was gonna be doing it for quite sometime already...as he had been putting it off...I gave him a deadline, by end of May, coz we had less than 18 months left to plan for the BIG DAY....
So, anyway, on the 20th of May, he had wanted to do the whole thing...but...my parents were at home, playing mahjong with their friends..and being the shy boy he is, he didn't dare to do it! So, he thought to wait till 2.15 am, which was the time that we both got together...but, the mahjong pple were still here! Thus, he decided to wait till Sunday morning...
Whilst I was playing some computer games, this remote controlled Mini Cooper came in, with a note tied behind it, asking me, "Do I look cute? If you think I am cute, please stay where you are..." Then it left... i obviously knew what was gonna happen by then, and it was a very pleasant surprise... Then it came in again, with the ring and the flowers, and another note, which obviously asked the question.... Then it went out, and came back in with a pair of scissors, which i was supposed to use to cut the ring and flowers off, if i agreed....
haha...such a sweet darling...it's just too bad that the car came up with some mini glitches that day...so i ended up knowing what was gonna happen right after the car came in with its first note...but nonetheless, i still absolutely love the way he did it!!
Right now, we're still in the very start of our planning...still discussing with both sides of parents on all the must-haves, etc.. it seems that they're very likely to leave the both of us to make our own decisions..and if so, we'll probably be having a very simple yet cozy one, so that we'll be able to interact fully with all of our guests instead of having them just come for the 10-course meal, take a photo, then go back home....
Anyway, right now, we're tentatively setting our ROM date for 23/12/2006 and the ceremonial date to be on 23/12/2007....
Once we've settled the stuff with the elders..we'll be moving on to look for our helpers, and try to start sourcing for things....
Hmm...so many things to do...and we still have our other committments..especially since we just got back into Legion and all..really hope God will guide the both of us, and help everything go as smooth as possible...
