Bertolin Barn- Longmont- C
At first, I was smitten with this rustic lodge-like venue. It has a great sense of atmosphere. It is also nice because you can bring in your own catering and alcohol. It is also fairly affordable. Everyone (including us) loved the charm of the venue and there were several compliments on the location. However, the owners were very wishy-washy throughout the entire year over several details. Over time, we found them to be very inconsistent with their contract and very hard to read. Some things they wouldn’t mind (like nailing up decorations in the barn, but then ended up getting very worked up about tables not being moved back for instance when this was not written in the contract.) The expectations were not clear and these are not things I would have thought of including in the original contract. The week after the wedding, they have been “nickel-and-diming” us for ridiculous charges beyond any potential damage. The part that upset me the most is that the owners invited themselves to eat and drink all they wanted at my wedding and I found out later that they had been drinking all night- not very professional in my opinion! They are fairly new at the wedding business and this is obvious. It was fine on the day-of, but now with the experience I am having the week after my wedding, they have made me second-guess my decision, and I am no longer recommending them to other potential brides.
Gabrielle Ellis Woods- Denver- (Officiant)- A+
Gabrielle was fantastic! She was so friendly and helpful. She performed a great ceremony and received several compliments. She allowed us to write our own ceremony or she can also write one for you, as she has experience in wiring and theater. She will do any denomination ceremony, as well as civil ceremonies. She was very open-minded and supported us in writing our non-religious ceremony. Gabrielle was very patient when I sent her draft after draft of our ceremony via email! She also made us a handmade scrapbook with our entire ceremony written out to read from at the wedding, and to keep as a keepsake!
Glacier Ice Cream- Longmont- A+
I highly recommend this company! They came in at the last minute and saved the day! We had already booked an ice cream sundae bar through another creamery. The previous vendor closed up shop and ran with out money two weeks before the wedding. Deb, the owner of Glacier, was very accommodating and gave us a great deal! They were also very friendly and professional at the event! Everyone raved about the ice cream and thought it tasted wonderful! I highly recommend this company!
Bennett’s BBQ-Arvada- B+
YUMMY! We received lots of compliments on the comfort food and everyone thought it was a great choice. They were very friendly and professional for both food and bar service. I only gave them a B+ because they were a little late, which was a bit of a stress since we had friends manning the bar for awhile. This really wasn’t their fault though, as evidently there was an accident on the way to the wedding.
Studio Boom (Hair and Make-up)-Longmont- A+
Wow! My entire bridal party went here for hair and some for make-up. I had Donna Marie. I highly recommend her. She was excellent at both and was easy to talk to, bounce ideas off of, and she was very creative! I was comfortable with her and she made me look fantastic!
SVVSD Career Development Center (Florist)- Longmont- A+
I had the CDC (high school kids) make one large arrangement for the altar. I gave them the color scheme and general idea and let them get creative- it was fantastic!!!!!! I could never have dreamt of something so beautiful. Pics are in my bio of the cornucopia-shaped arrangement on the stage. They used very interesting, colorful flowers! And…it was only $30!
Melissa Andrews (DOC)-Colorado Springs- B+
I found Melissa on the Knot, so I did not know her previously and had not met her. She was very organized, productive, and down-to-business for someone just starting out in the wedding business. There were a few glitches with our wedding, as would be expected and she was very good about coming to ask me how I wanted the situation handled, which I appreciated. She did an excellent job of slightly altering the plan as needed. Sometimes I know I didn't have an answer and may have been flustered, but she always seemed to have a reasonable suggestion, but I liked being aware of the problem. I found this helpful. She went way out of your way to drive so far and take care of so many details! She knows how to take care of business!
Sandy Sew (alterations) –Loveland- A+
Sandy works out of her home in Loveland. She is fantastic, friendly, and affordable. She books up fast and has a busy schedule however!
All-Event Rentals -Longmont- B
I only rented four tables from these guys. They were both delivered and picked up on time, although I had no contact with them at that time. Everything was fine, although the only reason I give them a B is because the man that works there is always so rude to me. The three times I had contact with them- either by phone or in person- he seemed short with me, and I felt that I was being a nuisance.
Moonshiner (Bluegrass band)-Boulder- A+
Fantastic price and fantastic music! I found this band on Craig’s List, but quickly learned they are a well-received band in the area. We received so many great comments about this band- even from the non-bluegrass fans. Everyone enjoyed them immensely and got our guests up and moving and having fun. They were very fun, nice, and gave us a great deal! They played both slow and fast songs and were able to read the crowd well.
