We are getting married in an old refurbished barn! It actually more resembles a lodge with its large wooden beams and beautiful stone work. It is owned by a family in North Longmont where they host Bluegrass shows so it is complete with a stage, a balcony, and all! Both the ceremony and reception will be held here. We will also have access to the bonfire pit outside! Click on the link above to see some pics or go to www.bertolinbarn.com.
Simple Autumn Elegance
Our colors are chocolate brown, burnt orange, with touches of ivory and champagne. We are decorating with simple touches of autumn such as maple leaves, berry garlands and twine, wrought iron, and my favorite part- pumpkins! Hopefully it will have a rustic, yet elegant look. Most of all, I wanted to avoid the overdone "wedding-y" look like white tulle, a trellis, white, white, white, and topiaries. This just isn't us. There will be ivory tablecloths with burlap runners and chocolate brown napkins. Tables will already be set up for the ceremony and the reception.
As for flowers, I decided it would be fun and more affordable to create my own flower arrangements. I used a variety of high-quality silk florals from Michael's and Hobby Lobby. In the long run, I am not sure if it saved me very much money, but at least I was able to get the exact kind of flowers I wanted (I am very particular about this... I am not a fan the typical wedding flowers.)I made my bridal bouquet, bridesmaid bouquets, and all the boutonnieres so far. Please click on the link above to see all the pics!
I will be wearing a antique-style wedding dress in champagne. It has capped sleeves and rouched bodice with a short train. The bridesmaids are wearing dresses from www.cocomyles.com. They will be chocolate brown. Each girl chose a top to go with a tea length bottom, and the Maid of Honor's dress will feature a champagne-colored sash to match my dress. Each of the girls just happened to pick out four different styles, whcih I think will suit them quite nicely! I wanted it to coordinate, but not to look too matchy-matchy. Engagement Pics! These are pictures (some are still unedited) taken by our friend Genevieve! We lucked out, as she is our friend and sister of the best man and is also taking our wedding pictures. She gave us a great deal and basically took free engagement pics so she could use them for new ideas and for her website. And we got engagement pictures, which we never dreamed of! It was a fun, but exhausting day! I was not able to download all of them because some of them were too large in size, but you get the idea.
I have several ideas for this, but still unsure what to do. Here are some pictures I borrowed from *Jamilynne* for some ideas. (Thank you!) I really like the idea of the mini pumpkins, but I don't know if this would be too much money/hassle???? There will be approximately 150 guests in attendance. I thought about maybe using the clothesline idea outside before people walk in the barn to see what table they are sitting at, have numbers on the tables, and then a mini pumpkin or pine cone at each seat with individual names on them. I don't really like the idea of one big table full of pumpkins, as this could get confusing... I am open to your thoughts/ideas!
