Our Story
How We Met: We met a little over six years ago when we both moved out to Colorado. Leslie was working part-time at the local YMCA and Sam often frequented the gym there. After seeing each other in passing here and there, we ran into each other at a local bar on Leslie's birthday. The music was loud and Leslie thought that Sam's name was "Tim".... A week or two later Sam invited Leslie to a concert, which was our first official date. By Halloween we decided we were officially an item and celebrated with carving pumpkins and passing out candy in the streets during our first big blizzard... Now we enjoy our dogs, good food, friends, game parties, and are looking forward to traveling many wonderful places.
The Proposal
We were engaged on November 21, 2008. We just took our first official "relaxation vacation" to Puerto Aventura- in the Mayan Riviera, Mexico. On our second night there, we got all dressed up for dinner and then decided to wander around our resort and explore before we ate. We walked along the rocks by the ocean-side. As we looked down in the water, you could see the fish swimming and you could hear waves splashing up against the rocks out further. Sam pointed out that you could see our shadows out on a distant rock. I looked, but as I turned, Sam was down on one knee and asked me to marry him. We spent the week sight-seeing and relaxing on the beach.
