About Samantha
Samantha is a 2009 graduate of Illinois Wesleyan University in Bloomington, IL. She received her Bachelor's degree in nursing with a Spanish minor. At the end of May, she moved down to St. Louis and began working as a staff nurse in the neonatal intensive care unit at St. Louis Children's Hospital. Besides working and learning about how to best care for the tiny babies in the NICU, her latest hobbies are practicing her cooking skills and learning how to scrapbook.
About Bryan
Bryan is a 2008 graduate of Illinois State University in Normal, IL. He received his Bachelor's degree in Entrepreneurship with a minor in Spanish. He has been a firefighter in the Air National Guard for the past 9 years and hopes to eventually work for a city fire department. Bryan enjoys spending time with friends and most outdoor activities including running, biking, camping, and rock climbing. He is currently living with a friend in the St. Louis area and working at Scott Air Force Base.
How We Met
Bryan and Samantha have both been actively involved in Fuel, the young adult ministry at Eastview Christian Church, for several years, but they had never officially met. Back in January, Samantha decided to attend DesPRAYtion, a Fuel prayer group, that met at Bryan's house. She had wanted to attend during the fall semester but had a conflict on that night of the week.
Bryan and Samantha first met on January 27 at desPRAYtion and began getting to know each other better each week. On March 6, they went for a long walk together, and Bryan asked Samantha to commit to spend some time getting to know each other better in order to determine whether or not they should pursue a relationship together. On March 25, after Samantha returned from a mission trip to Guatemala, their courtship officially began.
