A short while after Scott moved to Denver, he became a manager for Red Robin. After bouncing around from restaurant to restaurant he landed at the Red Robin on Arapahoe Rd where Kim was the head trainer. We became fast friends, bonding over a shared love of Dave Matthews Band, and were soon inseperable. Soon after becoming Kim's boss, Scott decided to leave Red Robin and within a week we started dating. We have always said how amazing it is to be in love with your best friend, and now it's even more exciting because we get to marry our best friend!
So after Scott left Red Robin we started dating, nothing too serious since we still dated other people. Although we kept dating other people for awhile, there was something that just kept bringing us back to each other.
Every Monday we would go out with another couple for what we called cocktail night! It just so happened that Valentine's Day fell on a Monday so we were out as normal hanging out when Kim gets a phone call from a different guy and she tells him where we were and he should come meet us! Scott got a little upset and in a firm voice started saying what do you think your doing, we're out on date night on Valentines Day and your inviting another guy?! Completely catching Kim by surprise, she goes I just thought this was cocktail night. Scott proceeded on saying call it what ever you like but the other couple we were with are together and we've been dating so that makes this date night! Still in shock Kim says well how was I supposed to know this you've never even kissed me in public! So right then Scott cupped her face with both hands and laid one on her! She called and told the other guy not to come and we went on with date night, no longer called cocktail night, from then on!
As time went on we were always asked when our anniversary is. We never officially had one so we always called Valentines Day our anniversary (or Scott was just smarter than the average bear and turned two holidays into one)! But from that day forward neither one of us dated anyone else!
After 4 1/2 years I've decided to have Kim make an honest man out of me! While we were up looking at wedding things in Evergreen I fumbled around with the ring in my pocket while we were at the church. I kept repeating to her it's 5 months to the day (when we're getting married) and she kept saying yep. I then asked if she was gonna be able to put up with my shit for the rest of her life...her response..."I've put up with it this far haven't I?" Yeah I know, I'm not the most romantic guy in the world, and I'm going to hell for saying shit in church but hey, you cant tell me that's not something that I would say right? Kim said around then all the color drained from my face, she thought I was freaking out about getting married and thought I was going to throw up and to be honest I kind felt like I was going to. So while it felt like my knee gave out on me, I did do it on purpose, I went to one knee and asked in that case will you marry me. And of course those of you who know Kim she freaked out and started crying and saying "Oh my God" about 5 or 6 times (at least we'll be in hell together for her saying that in church). I then proceeded to ask her if she was gonna say yes and she did. So 5 months to the day in the church where we will be getting married, Kim and I made it official that we will be getting married! And for those of you who are wondering I have all ready been lectured by my mother for not telling her I loved her when I proposed.
