It was a Sunday evening, the day before Scottie's 24th birthday. We met by the fountain at The Village, where we both live. We walked to the Yard House and enjoyed appetizers and drinks. We talked and talked and talked. As we walked back to our apartments I knew this was someone special and couldn't wait to go out again. Scottie shared with me her passion for baseball, and as you can imagine I was ecstatic. She had never been to an Angel Game, so I had the perfect idea for our second date.
We went on our first date to a restaurant right across the street from where we just both happened to be living. We hit it off right away over appetizers and drinks and have been together since then. On our third date we decided to go on a day trip down to the San Diego Zoo. After we had spent an amazing day at the zoo, Sean had decided to take me to an island by San Diego. Coronado Island was amazing! We walked along the beach, checked out the historical hotel, and enjoyed a wonderful dinner. Little did I know that 7 months later that would be the exact spot Sean proposed!
I planned a weekend trip to San Diego and our stay at the Hotel Del Coronado. I was trying to keep things as much of a surprise as possible. We spent Saturday laying by the pool, enjoying a couples massage, having dinner at Tent City and sipping flights of wine at Eno. I had the ring loosely in my pocket the entire evening, hoping that when the time was right it would still be there. We left the wine bar to go enjoy a walk on the beach. It was about 10pm and the weather had definitely cooled off. We took off our shoes and got about 10 steps until I said "Forget it, this is way too cold." After running out of ideas as we walked around the hotel property, I had plan B setup back at our room. While we were at dinner, the hotel delivered rose petals, champagne, and chocolate covered strawberries to our room. It was there I told Scottie exactly how I feel for her and luckily the ring was still in my pocket. I got down on a knee and proposed!
After getting through the Holidays, Sean had decided that we needed a little weekend get-away before we started back up with work, school, and all other factors of life. I was told that we were going to spend the weekend in San Diego but I had no idea that we would be re-visiting Coronado Island. The weekend was filled with relaxation, fine dining, and breath taking views. After we had been tasting flights of wine by the ocean, Sean had decided it would be nice to take a walk on the beach....that lasted about 30 seconds before it was unbearably cold. I should have known that something was going on when Sean told me that we would just take off our shoes and throw them to the side. If you know Sean, you know that he doesn't just "toss" any of his personal belongings anywhere. When we finally arrived back to our room, I was taken back by a room filled with rose petals, and champagne. Sean got on his knee, asked me to marry him, put the ring on my finger, and of course I said YES!!!!!!!
