Ironically enough, I met Seann in a bar on Mill Ave. (Ironic, because for those that know me, that is so not my scene.) My friends, Katie and Shannon dragged me out that night. Shannon saw Seann's friend, Dave, and wanted to meet him. So we headed over and started talking. Seann and I started talking and hit it off right away. In between our conversations, he kept buying me drinks. I think that was all a part of his plan.
Once we were ready to head out, Seann and I said our good-bye. I wrote down my phone number on his arm. (I know... how juvenile.) The rest was up to him.
Seann called me the next day and we ended up getting to know each other over the phone. In fact, we had a few lengthy conversations before our first date. By the time we saw each other again a week later, I felt like we had known each other for years.
It was the best first date I have ever had. We enjoyed talking so much, the waiter had to keep coming back since we were too busy to look at the menu. We talked about families, our homes and our childhoods. Dinner obviously wasn't enough. Seann suggested we walk to the park down the street.
It was one of those dates that I just did not want to end. We made plans to see each other again the following week, and the week after that. In between dates, we continued to spend endless hours on the phone...
And that is the story of how I met my best friend and future husband.
Annie's story is true, she just chose to leave out some details. So instead of telling you the same story twice, I'll just fill in where appropriate.
We did meet at a bar, and we did hit it off. So much so that we ended up making out on a pool table (during the middle of somebody else's game - we were a little oblivious).
We did talk on the phone for hours every night until we met the next week for dinner. I picked a restaurant really close to me since I was walking, as I didn't have a car at that point. It was a Chinese place, and Annie showed me how to eat lettuce wraps without spilling food all over the place. And the waiter did have to continue coming back to the table to see if we were ready to order. After dinner we went on a walk. We came to a little park with a five foot tall wrought iron fence surrounding it, and I talked Annie into scaling the fence with me. We sat on a table and looked at the stars. Then I got smooth, used a line on her, and she melted into my arms (we made out again). I'm going to stop here with the story for fear of angering someone close to me.
Almost four years later and here I am taking that giant leap into the future with Annie. It isn't always easy with us, but it's worth all the work for something this incredible, and I know I'm lucky enough to have someone whose willing to keep trying forever. (unless of course I screw up REALLY badly)
