Horn and leather necklace, 'Kibsa' (Ghana)

Ila Suleyman honors the customs of Ghana's Mamprusi people with the design of this necklace. Crafted by hand with dark brown leather cords, the necklace is centered by a pendant carved from bull horn. The necklace is a tribute to Kibsa, a day of personal sacrifice for the sake of fertility or rain, as needed. Fastens with a recycled plastic toggle.
