How do web-savvy couples address all the questions about their upcoming wedding? With an FAQ, of course.
Well, we do admit it might be pretty warm, so forget needing cardigans and sweaters for the wedding. We are hopeful that temperatures will stay near the average for May of around 85 F (29 C). But the ceremony will be under lots of shade, and it will be occurring once the sun starts heading down (after 5pm), so we don't foresee you will be doing too much sweating! Except from dancin' and havin' fun, that is...
Our wedding is going to be quite informal. That said, you'll get extra points for dressing bright and happy! Fun! Color! Creative space! YAY!
We aren't requiring anything, but of course there will be lots of photo-taking, and the bride and groom will have on a dress and suit respectively - but then again it will be warm, so dress to your best judgment. You might find yourself on a picnic blanket or playing croquet. You might just sit and enjoy the scenery. We're pretty sure there will be people with jeans, and people with ties, so fit yourself in the spectrum where you think you belong.
Heels may not be the greatest at the ceremony/reception, but feel free to have a pair in your bag should you want to fancy it up for the after-party!
We are being rather liberal with our guest list, as we strongly felt we did not want to leave out anyone important to us. However, if you have not been with your partner for several years, please do not assume they are invited to the ceremony. Feel free to ask us about it, but please do not hate us if we say no. Everyone can come to the after-party, however.
By all means, please bring your children along to the ceremony if you like or must. It will be in a large, confined, outdoor space (pray for no rain!!), and there is plenty of room to play. However, the after-party location is at a bar and will not be child-friendly (smoking, drunks, loud music; need I continue?). I will post a list of Dallas baby-sitting services so you can make the decision on what arrangement would best suit YOUR family. We have some suites reserved at the Magnolia which may be good for those with children - there is a small kitchenette and an expanded living area. Please call that hotel for details.
Dallas is a city that pretty much requires a car. Taxi fares can get expensive for use throughout the day and a quick search on Priceline brings up rates as low as $18/day for that weekend for rental cars. Taxis can also take a long time to arrive. For exploring the city during the day you may decide your best option is a rental car, or going in on a rental car with friends you know you will want to spend the day with. Remember a designated driver when enjoying your lunchtime margarita, however!
However, if you stay at recommended hotels and share, cabs are a good deal in the evening when you might like to partake of the cheap drinks in Dallas, or to come to the wedding!
Though we really just ask for your presence, we do realize some of you will want to give us a gift to celebrate this special day. There is a page on this website that you can find links to our three registries. If you have any questions, please contact Ashlee's sister via email: meredithblakemcclelland AT hotmail.
Thank you!
We do not have direct experience with the following companies (having no kids and all), but they have temporary sitting services. We also suggest you ask the concierge of your hotel if they have any recommendations.
