Stefanie & John

Photos & Dresses

So now that I am "unofficially" done with school, I can get back to planning the wedding! The last 8 weeks of school were incredibly busy and left absolutely no time to even really THINK about the wedding. Thankfully I'm kind of at that wedding planning stage where there's not much to do. Now I'm on break for a week and even when I go back it's mostly clinicals...no reading 500 pages a week, no tests, no studying in a library with no windows! I can't even begin to tell you how much of a relief it is. Of course though, now I need to think about taking my boards, passing them, and getting a real job! But back to the wedding stuff...

This weekend was actually filled with wedding things, for the first time in a while. On Saturday we went and checked out our engagment pictures...and we absolutely LOVED them! John's sister always tells us how we just take great pictures, she's never seen a bad one of us. And up until we saw these pictures I always disagreed with her, but there really were a lot of great ones to pick from, even the photographer thought so. It was much harder to narrow it down then we thought it would be. I loved the way they showed them to us though. They made us popcorn, gave us drinks, and sat us infront of a big screen that looks like a giant picture frame and played the pictures to music. In the end we did narrow it down to a good variety and decided to do several things with the pictures. We had a guest book photo album made, severl pictures for the family/us, and three we're using for our save the date. Unfortunately they do not give us a DVD of these or put them online so sadly you just have to take my word on how they came out for now! But I promise everyone will get to see a nice variety soon.

On Sunday, I went to look at bridesmaid dresses with John's sisters (Jenni and Lisa) and my cousin and maid of honor (Vickie). We went to the new House of Brides in Orland, which was really nice. Vickie and Lisa were great as I made them try on like 30 dresses and Jenni was great at helping find what I was looking for and helping the girls (it was almost like she worked there). We had it narrowed down to like 5 dresses and there were 2 which really stood out to me. I said I wasn't going to pick one yet until I knew what colors they came in because I didn't want to get my hopes set on one or the other. Well apparently I already had my heart set on one, because when I found out it didn't come in any shade of red, I was clearly disappointed. And that just kind of brought me down for the rest of the day and so I wasn't in the mood to pick anything yet. I still really loved our 2nd choice, and Jenni even concocted a make-shift dress to try and give me an idea of what it will look like in the right colors, but I couldn't make a decision. We checked out Davids Bridal afterwards, but like with my dress they didn't have anything I was looking for and the help was less than helpful. So we have a tentative dress picked but I think that I need to search elsewhere before making a final decision. I just feel silly being so disappointed about a dress, a dress that I'm not even wearing. But it is what it is. We'll figure it out. Thanks again girls!!

Next task on the list...save the dates!
