So as promised, here's an update on what we go accomplished before my blog. We'll start with finding a place. I got information of tons of places, but eventually narrowed it down to about 5 to look at. We started by going to an Italian restaurant/banquet hall in Addison that my dad recommended. My family had been going to the restaurant for a while so we knew the food was great. The hall was beautiful and we really liked it. We got to take our parents to a complimentary tasting and they also really liked it. However, I couldn't make a decision without looking at some of these other places.
We went to check out a couple places in the Palos/Hickory Hills area. Unfortunately John and I both agreed it was a waste of time because it just wasn't what we were looking for. The halls were somewhat out of date and tacky. This made John even more positive the first place was the right one, but I still wasn't completely sure. I wanted to check out two places in Joliet. John was not so happy because after a long night before, we had to be AT the Joliet Union Station by 9:30 am on a Saturday. And unfortunately our meeting at the mansion (which was around the block) was about 4 hours later. The Union Station was beautiful but we had a couple concerns. Luckily though the women had a connection to the mansion and got us in there right away.
From the moment we walked in, I think we both knew it was the perfect place. John said that he could tell from the look I had when I walked in the ballroom. It was PERFECT! I was looking for a place where it would be just our wedding and I really loved the white marble look. So after a long talk about it over breakfast, and John feeling bad for not wanting to go in the first place, we made a decision. By the time we got home we were calling the mansion to fax over a contract. I was going to have my wedding at the place I had been of for years! More to come on ceremony, dress, and photography...
