A Weekend Full of Planning

Well it's been a while since I've done some wedding planning stuff but this weekend was full of it! On Friday, my mom and I and my Aunt Joni went to meet with some florists. This was an unexpected task for me as I've always thought I had my florist picked out. My parents have used the same woman for years...I knew she did great work and it was one less thing for me to worry about. Well at the end of the summer we found out that she would be retiring in August which left us with no clue who to use. So after doing some researching on the internet I decided to check out a couple places in Orland. We went to two very different places, with two very different people, with two very different ideas of what to do for our wedding. One woman ran her own business from home (and did Chicago Bears' "Peanut" Tillman's wedding) and the other was a shop that just moved to the area from Oak Lawn that I just happened to find by driving by. I really like both places but we decided on the second. The florist had some great ideas and was even able to pull some samples together for us right then and there. I could tell he knew exactly what he was doing and loved his job. I think he's going to do some great stuff for us and I can't wait to see it. Oddly enough his ideas were very different from what I was originally thinking, but after he explained them to me that made so much sense and I know will be perfect for the look we want! I can't wait...clearly I just absolutely LOVE flowers!

We took a break from wedding planning Saturday to have a shower to celebrate the soon arrival of our nephew. Then on Sunday we had our tasting at the reception hall. I was really excited not only because I have heard great things about their food, but because all of our parents were coming with and I couldn't wait for them to see this place. They, of course, all loved it and think we have made the perfect choice...so now I just can't wait to show it to all of you!  :)  The food we tried was absolutely amazing and lived up to all of the reviews I've read and heard about. And there was plenty of food to try; we left there feeling very full! Things are definitely coming together though because we basically made the final decisions on the menu. Of course we have plenty of time to change our mind, but I think it was a smart thing to do to make the decisions immediately after we had tasted everything. I think we have a great meal picked out that is not your "typical" wedding dinner and that everyone will enjoy! We even picked out the cake...flavor and design! It's the perfect design for what I was looking for. When John went through the book he knew immediately which one I wanted...and we hadn't even talked about it.

All in all it was a great weekend! I really had a lot of fun. The things I did for the wedding this weekend really made things start to fall into place. Because now I'm not just hiring people and setting up times to meet with them in the future; we are actually working on the details of the day!! And that's the stuff that I love doing! These last 202 days are going to fly by! Now that we're dealing with details and such there is sure to be more posts; however, I do have to still leave some surprises for everyone!

How exciting! You're really rolling now! March will be here before you know it! I think that's what I'm waiting for- something to make me feel like "holy cow it's really happening!" Can't wait to celebrate with you guys! Love you!

It really is all coming together. The flowers and food sound awesome. And now we have the girls' dresses too! Can't wait for the big day!
