In addition to being one of the most sandy beaches on the mostly rocky North Shore, Singing Beach is very special to us. For our third date in the summer of 2003, we drove two hours from Western Mass and had an evening picnic under the moonlight here. Both of us feel that this night was when we began to fall in love, and we mark it as the start of our relationship.
One thing to know is that parking right at the beach is expensive, so it's best to park on the street and walk.
The Peabody Essex Museum is a beautiful art museum right next to the commons in downtown Salem. The museum specializes in world art, with collections from India, Korea, China (including a recreated late Qing Dynasty house), Japan, and Oceania. Coincidentally, in August 2008 there will be a special exhibition titled "Wedded Bliss, The Marriage of Art and Ceremony"
