Michelle and Miriam have been friends since their first year at Smith College. They've had many adventures and fun times together over the years, including rolling a giant rock down a hill, climbing on the lions in Trafalgar Square, and founding the HWWF, or Haven Wesley Wrestling Federation. Michelle is studying to become a veterinarian at UCL in London and was once one of the top singers in New Jersey!
Miriam's sister Anne is an awesome mom and a rockstar lawyer fighting anti-Israel bias with the organization NGO monitor. She currently lives in Jerusalem with her husband Jordan and their two adorable children, Shmuel Dov and Rachel Hila. Anne can do ice skating jumps and she makes a mean cupcake!
Miriam's nephew Shmu, one of the world's cutest two year olds, excels at being adorable, running around, and talking about trucks.
Sylvie's sister Amanda is a development officer for MADD and an adult education chair at her shul. She lives in Montgomery County, Maryland (where Miriam grew up!) with her husband Harold and beautiful daughter Becca. Amanda has a stunning voice which she puts to great use these days by wowing her congregation with her cantorial stylings.
Sylvie's niece Becca is a charismatic and joyful toddler (she's gorgeous too!). She loves sunglasses, chocolate cake, and all things Elmo.
Al and Miriam were suite mates their senior year at Smith. Their greatest accomplishment was rallying Haven-Wesley house to victory in three consecutive field days using the motto, "Tougher than your mama, tougher than a horse, brute force!" Al just completed her nursing degree at Yale School of Nursing and is now a Family Nurse Practitioner. Congratulations Al!
Ariana and Miriam were roommates their junior year at Smith, when they enjoyed, among other things, singing along to musicals and accapella with Michelle and obsessively watching ER(including mourning the death of Dr. Romano). In 2002 they won the English Department Christmas Party Costume Contest by dressing as characters from "As I Lay Dying," complete with mock coffin. Ariana is teaching high school and working towards a masters in English at the University of Minnesota where she lives with her husband Nishant and their adorable puppies Coco and Kiki.
Tania and Miriam are helping each other survive graduate school, one day at a time. They try to keep it fun and exciting by going on cookie raids, finding out about all the chemistry departmental intrigue, and watching the imaginary intrigue on Gray's Anatomy. Tania studies bacterial cell walls and lives in Cambridge, right down the street from Sylvie and Miriam. She is one of the most hilarious people around, and is also a limbo champion!
Sylvie's sister Molly, a donor researcher for Hebrew Senior Life, spends her days sleuthing out the lifestyles of the rich and famous...Jewish philanthropists. Molly lives with new hubby Rich Parr in Allston (just around the corner from Miriam and Sylvie). She spends her nights learning to knit, making fabulous risotto, and staying well versed in every detail of celebrity culture.
What can we say about Audrey Rose? A longtime friend, Auds is practically family. She has a penchant for lit theory, chicken, and ball gowns. A New Yorker at heart, she finally feels back at home in Harlem after her diaspora period in Boston. A natural stand up comedian, she does her best work sitting down at family celebrations.
Nava and Sylvie, who met at Smith, have been friends for only a few years, but it seems like they've known each other their whole lives. She's also a dear friend of Miriam, and has been there for every step of Sylvie and Miriam's relationship. There were good times at Smith and around Northampton, adventures in Israel and she even helped carry their bed over the threshold into their new home in Somerville. Through it all she's mediated conversations both serious and goofy. Nava lives in Philadelphia, where she currently works as a technician in a biology lab, but just until her budding career as an aerialist takes off.
Beth and Sylvie met on their very first day of Library School. They've been nearly inseparable since, enjoying spontaneous adventures in Boston and beyond, rooting for the Boston Derby Dames (roller derby) and playing lots of board games (they also do lots of homework, but they don't always enjoy it). She lives in Cambridge just a few blocks away from Sylvie and Miriam, but her heart is in Chicago. Beth, a former photographer and current art catologuer at Harvard's Fogg Museum, is a tenacious scrabble player and makes great root beer floats.
