Tamer & Chantale

The Proposal

An Unexpected Vacation

An Unexpected Vacation

Late last year, Tamer surprised Chantale with a vacation. A trip to the UK and Italy was on the agenda. Going under the guise that they both needed a little relaxation and some fun seeing the sites, Chantale packed her bags and they were on their way to the airport. Little did she know Tamer was taking her to Venice, the City of Love.

The Original Plan

The Original Plan

So the plan was set into motion and when the scheduled proposal night came around, everything went awry!

In typical Tamer fashion they were running late to the restaurant (Chantale's version of events - he was spending too much time primping ;)

The meals didn't go as planned and the disappointed couple (risotto-less and ready to head home) decided to go for a gondola ride. They were lucky enough to get the most talkative Gondolier in Venice and Tamer could not get a word in edge-wise! Since the original plan was to propose in the Gondola, he decided to postpone popping the question until the moment felt right.

As you can see from the photo, Tamer was feverishly fending off text-messages from friends and family that thought the deal was done!

The Actual Proposal

The Actual Proposal

The real proposal happened the following evening and to do it justice, you must read if from both sides:

Chantale's Version: We went out for dinner and Tamer suggested one last gondola ride before leaving Italy. He seemed a little anxious and kept asking the Gondolier the same questions without paying attention to the answer. Then I saw him go down on one knee and I was shocked! I was, of course ecstatic and said yes immediately! It was so cute, he was so nervous... he even put the ring on the wrong finger!

Tamer's Version: After the ridiculousness from the night before and spending the day making sure nobody could reach Chantale by phone (so as not to congratulate her on something that hadn't yet happened!) I was looking forward to having it done! As I dropped to my knee I could see the shock on her face, then laughter when I popped the question.

I was so happy when I heard her say yes, but frankly - had she said no - I may have thrown her overboard!
