The hotel we'll be staying at is in Old Pasadena, a bustling 20-block shopping and entertainment district, not to mention the Paseo Colorado Mall which is 2 blocks away.

Huntington Library, Art Collections & Botanical Gardens - Visit this lovely place to explore the Japanese, the Desert Garden, the Rose Garden or to admire the 18th-century paintings among many others.

You've seen it in the movies: the glittering streets, the chic boutiques and posh restaurants. Go for a drive up in the hills and canyons north of Sunset Blvd to see some of the stars $million homes.

Torrey Pines State Reserve - This is a beautiful place we visited, it has amazing views of the ocean and you can hike down to the beach.

Legoland California

This is for Prerna and Abhishek :) According to the guidebook, this is an enchanting fantasy environment built entirely of legos. It might be full of kids, but just to know, it's there.

Desert Ramblings - Joshua Tree National Park

If going into nature is more your style, then say goodbye to civilization and head for one of the national parks like Joshua Tree with its whimsical trees.
