This is a space where we (mostly Tiffani, but Adam may be inspired) will write, contemplate, etc. about the wedding and all the little details that come up (sometimes unexpectedly) in planning our wedding.
I can't believe the wedding is really just 10 days away. Things are going well on the wedding front, minus a small near disaster with my dress. Everything is coming together nicely and things are working themselves out. Adam quietly confessed before he left for work that he's excited. I'm excited and I'm excited that he's excited. And we're not overly excitable people. I'm not letting the stress overwhelm me. I rarely convey super-stress-dom even when I am stressed beyond...
I can't believe we only have 4 weeks to go until the wedding! It's been a long time coming and now I feel like time is just flying by. It's not helping that I'm currently in CA doing non-wedding related things: helping with and attending my Grandad's surprise 80th birthday party (which was a total success); graduating from my graduate program; packing up the rest of our stuff and driving it up to Portland. All of these things are important and I'm glad to be doing them (maybe not the driving...
I've started compiling recipes, but haven't received very many. I've collected a few over the years and have access to Adam's mom's recipes, but would like to get more for a more thorough collection. Please please please send your favorite recipes our way! Wedding planning is coming along nicely. I've had a lot of compliments on the invitations, which makes all the work completely worth it. Maybe I could add "invitation designer" to my growing list of skills acquired from...
I wasn't really holding any kind of contest for who returned their RSVP first. But we got the first two back today! While the wedding is a source of stress, it's a good kind of stress for the most part. I like being busy, and I like planning and being creative. Doing wedding stuff is actually a kind of life/sanity-saver while looking for a job. The market is tough, and it's easy to feel depressed about not hearing back from potential employers. It's also easy to get trapped in...
I mailed the invitations from the Bridal Veil Post Office (BVPO), which is possible a small wooden shack near the middle of nowhere. Brides from all over the country mail their invitations to the Bridal Veil Post Office, just to have the stamps on the wedding invitations hand-canceled with the "wedding stamp." Since we are getting married in Bridal Veil, we actively try to support local business, and I could get there in about an hour, I made the trek. The BVPO was literally a 10x10...
I am putting the final touches on the invitations as we speak. I am so excited about getting these out to our guests. I spent more time than I had imagined, and with help from a couple of my bridesmaids, Adam, and his parents, I think the invitations look pretty fabulous, if I do say so myself. I now know why custom wedding invitations cost so much. But it truly was a labor of love and the sore palms from all the wood-grain stamping was well worth it. And honestly, I have...
Here is a link to our photographer's blog with a few shots of our engagement session. Jessica is wonderful and we're so glad (and excited) to be working with her... Kissing, Kissing, and more Kissing Also, I finally decided on my dress and I am so excited to get it! No sneak peeks, though. You'll just have to wait until you see me walking down that aisle....
Friday I went to Charlotte's Weddings, a small wedding boutique in Beaverton. I tried on a few dresses and find three that I really liked. The one I liked the best, of course, was twice as much as I had wanted to spend (though my original dress budget was very low since I was going to have my dress made by a friend of Adam's sister - unfortunately this plan fell through). Today, I went back to try on the dresses for Adam's mom and sister in order to take more pictures and...
Last week I attended an open house at a bridal boutique - out of curiosity and lack of anything to do more than anything else. Free food, window shopping (I love to "just look," which I know drives Adam crazy). I went with Diana (my matron of honor), Corinna, and Amanda (Adam's mom and sister), just to check things out, browse the dresses, maybe sample some free food. We spoke with a couple vendors to be polite - I already have a photographer and a caterer, as well as a potential...
I've been in Portland for a week now and it's about time I got on to wedding stuff. I was waiting until I sent out some job applications so that I wouldn't feel so guilty about spending time on "fun things." But I think I got a good number out and even got a call back today. So, my goal this weekend is to sort out the wording for the invitations and all the inclusion cards. I hope to have the invitations mostly done by next weekend, so that I can enjoy my birthday wedding-worry...
