I don't know if any of you are still poking your nose in here to see what's going on but just in case you are . . . I thought I'd throw a little hint your way about some thank you cards we have been writing. According to my wedding count down it has been 35 days since our wedding and some of you have received no thanks for your personal and wonderful contributions to our happy evening. So please accept our apologies because the time keeps ticking by and we are working away. We are indulging in the opportunity to thank each of you individually by mail in no particular order. We thank you for your patience and trust that you know how much we appreciate you all.
Love,
Todd and Rebecca.

Wowie! What a trip. We've been having a blast. The wedding was glorious. Royally treated, royally spoiled, and, thanks to a Mexico Honeymoon, we've been royally pampered. We left the Mayan Riviera sufficiently tanned and relaxed and are back home ready to share our thanks and our wedding photos.
Check it out,
LOVE,
the new,
Mr. and Mrs. Talbot

Can you believe how soon Rebecca and Todd are getting married? It's hard to believe that a year of planning has passed and the wedding date is fast approaching. Todd and Rebecca are running around like chickens. Rebecca has declared that she is dedicated to only wedding business from now until March 2, and Todd is still balancing wedding with Whistler, work and renovations. He is off to Whistler on Friday for more meetings but today he is meeting with the couple's liason at NU and then the two of them are off to pick up the rings. There was a little bit of stress over the weekend at the fact that no marriage license had been applied for but no worries. In fact some couples don't apply until the day of the wedding and it can be done! Doesn't that make these two look like they're on top of things?

The party's just begun! A few of the gentlemen who bachelor partied with Todd in Vegas had to take Monday to recoup! Yes it did live up to expectation with Circque du Soleil, clubs, golfing, hot tubbing, and of course, the Casino. We have yet to hear who the big winner was but Todd certainly came home happy.
But don't forget about the ladies at home. Sherrill and Lisa, of the bridal party, threw a whirlwind 12 hour bachlorette including a makeover, a sleepover (at the Sheraton Wall Centre), a BMW Roadster, and plenty of Rebecca's favorite thing: organized activities.
Both members of the happy couple had their fill of fun and headed home Sunday to swap stories and sleep it off.
Our thanks to all the partiers who came out and made it what it was. We love all you guys,
Happy Valentine's Day!
~Rebecca and Todd
PS: Check out the photo gallery (finally) for photos of the Whistler Christmas as well as new photos of the ladies living it up!

Can you believe it's already february?
Todd is flying to Vegas this evening for his stag. This a very exciting time for Todd because all his buddies as well as some family will be with him, he's never been to Vegas, and he has the opportunity to win enough money to pay for the whole wedding! Good times.
And while he's away the ladies must play. The bridesmaids have kept everything very hush hush around the details of Rebecca's bachlorette but Rebecca has her overnight bag packed and is ready for anything!
All those last month wedding details are being put on hold this weekend so be sure to steer clear of the couple on monday when they have to get back to business and finish planning their wedding. They've been having a grand time so far and thank everyone who is contributing to W-day.
Love,
the couple.
January 29
Dear Family and Friends,
We are so excited about our approaching wedding date. We can't wait to share with you all the little treats we have been planning for the past months. And we are so honoured by everyone who is coming together to bless our choice to be partners for the rest of our lives.
Today is January 29th my dear friend Zeyn's birthday. Zeyn passed away just over 2 weeks ago and today would have been his 26th birthday. Zeyn has reminded me to live my life because it is an adventure, to stop waiting for my life to come to me because it is here, now, already.
So as Todd and I get into this busy time of planning I am remembering that it is not one day upcoming in March where our dreams of a life together begin, but it is every step that we are taking right now. Life is fleeting. I am not waiting to live it. I am loving completely my husband to be, cherishing the home we are creating together, acknowledging the amazing contributions of the people around us, expressing without boundaries the gifts that God has given me, and knowing that this is the life I choose.
This was the way Zeyn lived. And in the moments when I forget, when I get caught in a decision, a mistake, feeling unsatisfied, or unorganized, frustrated or anxious, my prayer is that I will have a moment of space, where I remember that THIS is the only moment I have, and I love this moment. Because it is only in THIS MOMENT that I am alive and it is amazing to be alive.
With my love,
Rebecca.

Excitement in the air! We are really getting cracking at this wedding stuff. For those of you who haven't heard . . . the music is set for the wedding. Alexander Browne and the Aristocrats, a 9 piece swing band will be playing the night away so make sure you bring your dancing shoes and brush up on your jive.
Now some of you have been wondering about a couple of items in the invitation. The ceremony begins at 6:30pm (so you may arrive at 6pm if you like to be early) and the whole thing is happening at NU restaurant. No travelling and no staggard invitations.
The second thing is the dress code. What does "stylish" mean exactly? It is not very clear is it? And a bit interpretive. Well everyone has their own style so we don't wish to pigeon-hole it. For instance, a brother of the bride has said he will wear a suit and a cowboy hat. He is more than welcome to do so. We don't want to ENCOURAGE people to wear cowboy gear . . . but stylish is stylish and you can't argue with that. My best try at describing it would be to say that it is dressy with a bit of irreverence. Not formal, not casual - just look hot - why not?
The last point of interest in today's newsletter is the RSVP -You may want to avoid the post altogether and try out our new RSVP page instead to let us know if you are coming or not!
Thank you all for continuing to check out how we're doing and for all your well-wishes,
Todd and Rebecca.
Welcome 2007! Exactly one year ago today was the first day of our engagement and now the wedding is in sight. We are very excited about everything and everyone coming together. It's like Christmas every day here when an RSVP comes in the mail.
We are have a meeting with the band leader and our photographer this week. There is also shoe shopping, choosing jewelry as well as a gown fitting scheduled. And in the midst of all this we are heavily into renovations and we're warning all you handy-people that you will be receiving a call from us soon to put up the walls in the basement.
We will update some photos in the gallery soon so you can see how everything is coming along as well as have a peek at what our Talbot/Codling gathering in Whistler looked like.
We wish you all a fabulous year,
Todd & Rebecca.

We are writing to you from beautiful Whistler, BC. Out the window a winter scene of snow covered trees, misty mountain-side and falling snow set the mood. Our favourite Christmas music is playing and the family are all about undertaking holiday adventures.
The Codlings are on their way back to Vancouver: Jason and Angela with Jon in tow. Ian has just declared that he is finished his participation in puzzle building and is going to join Pat with the packing up. Of the Talbots, Jill is across from me on her computer as well, Keith is going to get a Slurpee from 7-11, Janey, Anna and Eric are with Todd on the mountain getting in what should be a gorgeous Christmas Eve ski, and John will be back up here in a moment from fixing the front door knob of the cabin.
The wrapping up of our family weekend, which was set in motion back at Thanksgiving, is underway. It's been the perfect weekend. There was an excess of food which everyone contributed to the preparation of, shopping, skating, hot-tubbing, a Christmas movie, puzzling, and the now infamous Family Fracas, an exhilierating game of Codling and Talbot history. Everyone's true nature came out in this competition and a fun time was had by all -at least by those who's turn it was to watch!
Looking out the window once more the clouds have thickened around the cabin, the snow seems to be falling more rapidly and the weather is preparing us to huddle close to our loved ones this evening. So we will leave you with a wish: That wherever you are this eve, a wind will blow, if only for a second, to remind you that being with the ones you love warms the heart.

SURPRISE REBECCA!
Rebecca would like you all to know how fabulous her family, friends and bridesmaids are! They threw a surprise shower for Rebecca last Saturday at Crankpots Ceramic Studio much to her glee. The theme of the party was inspirational words. Each guest incorporated into their pieces words like: believe, create, honour, and harmony. The items were painted in the wedding colours of aqua and chocolate and are gifts for Todd and Rebecca's home.
AS FOR TODD . . .
He has been holding individual meetings with members of his stag list. There will be no surprise here - the boys are going to Vegas! Much to Rebecca's chagrin. It is to be a spectacular last hurrah and Todd's first time to Las Vegas so take care of him boys!
With love,
Todd et Rebecca.

You are the lucky bunch of guests who will be attending a wedding at Canada's top new restaurant. It's just proof that we have excellent taste and that you're in for a treat. On March 2nd, 2007 you will share in the love of our favourite goat cheese stuffed chicken wings shown in the photograph above. Thanks to Rebecca's Aunt Michelle who found the article.

Out of town guests be on the look-out! We have created our guest list and your save-the-date cards are in the mail! If we have been trying to contact you for your mailing address . . . now you know why. So for those of you who haven't e-mailed us back yet - hurry up - everyone is going to be saved before you.
More news: the woman who was helping us with wedding coordination at our venue is having a baby! We've heard of these things happening to couples before. Brides cry about it and the grooms get stressed out. But we are very happy to take up the offer of our friend, and Whistler Theatre Project's Special Events Manager, Lynn May Mirfield. Lynn has been a part of events like the 2010 Olympics unveiling at GM Place and with big-time entertainers like Jim Morrison. We are prviliedged to have her contributing to our special event. Thanks Lynn!
And to all of you who have offered to help along the way - watch out! We may be calling you next!
Until then,
Todd and Rebecca

Guess what we have accomplished since September 13th? That's right -we've been enjoying our "months-away" wedding date and letting the days roll on by! Every now and then Todd gets a wave of excitement over going to get our wedding rings. I get waves of excitement every time I buy a new bridal magazine. But when it comes down to it, our lazy butts are finding all sorts of other things to do.
We have plastered (rather Todd has) our bathroom, painted, and bought a new medicine cabinet. Todd is also continuing to work on WTP as well as casting the musical he is directing in Chemainus next Spring. I have been singing at Grandma Codling's 90th birthday and a Canucks game as well as around the house.
I will also be singing at Tony and Cathy's wedding this December 2nd. And as they pave the way for us, we would like to give a shout-out to Cathy and Tony. Congratulations on your upcoming nuptials. We are so excited about your winter wonderland wedding!
And to all the other happy couples out there: Congratulations. Don't forget how lucky you are!

We're back in town. The Whistler Theatre Project's Inaugural season has ended as a great success, we've moved out of the cabin in Whistler and Davis is getting used to the fetters of the city once again. Which means . . . wedding planning here I come! If any of you have recently asked Todd how the wedding plans are going you will have heard an answer something like, "we've basically got everything covered." Which is true to the extent that we know what we want for most things but according to my sources (magazines, the internet, and people who have experienced planning their own weddings) we have no idea WHAT to expect from the months of planning ahead. So the next time you see him, talk some sense into my fiance. The problem is it all seems pretty easy at the moment and I'm starting to think Todd's right! Isn't that worrisome?
Here's what we've got so far:
The Date: March 2, 2007
The Location and Menu: Nu Restaurant in Vancouver, BC
The Wedding Party: See our new Wedding Party page
The Flowers: Tulips, being helmed by the fabulous Andrea Isaak
The Dress: by Melissa Sweet
The Bride and Groom: Rebecca and Todd
The Guests: You!
So there are a couple of things missing: Who's going to marry us? What's a party without any music? And who exactly do we mean by "You!"? But those will all be in place in due time and what we've got now is 5 months of time to figure it all out. I think we're doing alright,
Rebecca and Todd.

This Thanksgiving we would like to welcome you all to join in a little sport. Our thanksgiving this year (Oct. 9) is landing just short of 5 months before we get married. Instead of meeting each others families when we get down to crunch time in March, we'd like to invite everyone to come together for the holiday and undertake a little challenge . . . something along the lines of the 'Codling/Talbot Amazing Race' or 'Family Survivor'. After all the fun we have for thanksgiving the wedding will be like a big reunion for everyone and not just for the bride and groom (union not re-union but you know what we mean). We realize for some of you it's a bit of a stretch to come out for thanksgiving but still we extend the invitation and would love you to tell us what you think about the idea. 'Contact Us' or call: (604)710-0876
and,
See you in October!

Whistler Theatre Project opens tommorrow! I am so thrilled for Todd and the fruition of countless hours of work. He said he feels like he's having a baby . . . it sounds like planning this wedding is going to be a piece of cake (or maybe a Timbit) in comparison! But as a tribute to my wonderful fiance and all of the recognition he deserves for the amazing contribution to Canadian arts that he is, there will be no talk of wedding plans today.
Congratulations Todd,
I love you,
YOU WIN!

Todd and I had a super successful wedding meeting this weekend where we completed the topics of wedding date, wedding registry, and the wedding party. As for the date . . . we're keeping you in suspense until wednesday (only two more days 'til the big reveal), as for the wedding party - we have to ask them before we can tell you, and as for the wedding registry - well that I can tell you.
This weekend Todd and I researched the Bay, Home Outfitters, Restoration Hardware, Cookworks and the Home Depot. Todd wanted to find somewhere that would reflect our personal style and somewhere unique from a typical mainstream wedding registry. As it turns out we are your average mainstream couple and we are now registered at HBC and Home Depot. Todd's time with the scanning gun is not over yet and it looks like this registering thing is going to take longer than we expected but you can look forward to a "Registry" page in the near future,
'til then,
Rebecca and Todd

Thank you to Johnna Wright for helping me get my butt in gear and give you all an update. The latest news has us with our wedding date up in the air . . . is anyone opposed to a sunday wedding? How about you out-of-towners . . . would you hate us if we got married in the middle of the week? Well if you have an opinion CONTACT US . . . or forever hold your peace! But seriously, you might just be helping us make our decision.
And as for the dress, I am having a fabulous time shopping with mom. Haven't found "the one" yet and am starting to think it might just have to be custom made. But there's still time and seeing as I can't divulge any of the details I will leave it at that,
Promising not to take so long,
until next time,
Rebecca.

As you know, last week we solicited your feedback on where we should get married: at a romantic hotel in Mexico or with a beach barbecue in Vancouver. We had an overwhelming response from family leaning towards Mexico (in particular one younger brother of the bride who just returned from holidays in Cancun). But no sooner than we'd opened the doors for advice did our dream venue fall into our laps. We're hesitant to reveal the spot for two reasons: we haven't booked it yet, and we don't want you all to steal our great idea for your birthday and holiday celebrations. But we're so excited that we can't contain ourselves! Check out www.whatisnu.com and feel free to CONTACT US to let us know how great you think it would be for our wedding!
