
Rauma

The wooden city center of Old Rauma is an UNESCO World Heritage site and the largest unified historical wooden town in the Nordic countries. Most buildings date back to the 18th century. It is also a fully functioning downtown shopping district with many boutiques, cafes and shops to interest visitors.

For history and archaeology buffs, the bronze age burial site of Sammallahdenmäki is our second UNESCO World Heritage site and also just on the outskirts of town.

Turku
The nearest major city, Turku is located about an hour's drive southeast of Rauma.

Turku Castle, is the largest surviving medieval building in Finland and one of the largest surviving medieval castles in the whole of Scandinavia. It is one the country's biggest tourist attractions. It also houses an excellent and extensive museum.
Turku Cathedral is the Mother Church of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Finland and considered to be the most important religious building in Finland. The cathedral was originally built out of wood in the late 13th century, considerably expanded in the 14th and 15th centuries, then rebuilt after major damage during the Great Fire of Turku in 1827.

For kids and kids at heart, Moomin World is a theme park based on the beloved Moomin books of Tove Jansson. It is located on the island of Kailo, right outside Turku.

Helsinki
The capital and largest city in Finland, Helsinki is a little over 3 hours' drive southeast of Rauma. With any city of this size, it's really up to the visitors themselves to decide what most interests them.
