Bride and groom posing on the stairs of a Lake Michigan wedding venue.

Known for its expansive beaches and blue waters and bordered by orchards, vineyards, and traveler-friendly towns like Grand Haven and Traverse City, Lake Michigan has a lot to offer. And from the tip of Chicago to the northernmost corners of Michigan and the Upper Peninsula, the lakefront is also a beautiful place to plan a wedding – without the fuss of salty air blowing around your updo.

Lake Michigan Wedding Venues

For a truly waterfront venue with options for celebrations on the smaller side – up to 100 guests – look to The Harbor Grand. A New Buffalo inn, this property and its sister-property, the Marina Grand Resort, offer both indoor and outdoor spaces for rehearsal dinners and showers, as well as the ceremony and reception. Luxury accommodations are available on site for your out of town guests, as well as anyone looking to hole up in a room with a view.

The Lakeside Inn is another Lake Michigan wedding venue, this time just a touch further off the lakeshore. Located on the top of a bluff near the water, this 31-room inn has a small café, historic charm, and a ballroom fit for 120 people. A full-service catering staff is on site and available for weddings, and there is private beach access just across the street. However, the part of this location that we just can’t get over is the green. Lush trees, lawns, and a small pond make up the inn’s scenery – and it’s perfect for an outdoor ceremony spring, summer, or fall.
